Role Overview
The Junior Solution Architect is part of the larger Architecture team that leads and supports the design, implementation, and governance of a range of solutions in line with enterprise standards achieving targeted business outcomes. Solutions include systems (such as applications, technologies, processes and information), shared infrastructure services and shared application services.
The Junior Solution Architect will assist in providing the required leadership, analysis and design tasks for the development of the enterprise’s solutions architecture ensuring compliance with a defined set of processes and adhering to the target IT architectural standards.
They will work to create deliverables that help establish a direction for managing the organization’s portfolio of current and desired solutions, to better align with targeted business outcome.
Solution Architects guide application design and define application architecture paradigms and principles that affect design choices and patterns that offer proven design solutions.
Role Responsibilities
Understand business drivers and business capabilities (future and current state),and helping to determine corresponding system designs to drive the organization’s targeted business outcomes.
Contribute and develop the architecture for a broad scope of projects, working closely with delivery teams that manage and design architecture for a single project or initiative.
Contribute to the system solutions of large, strategic, complex system development projects involving multiple platforms, distributed processing, multi-tier, and web-based applications.
Monitor the current-state solution portfolio to identify deficiencies caused by aging technologies used by the application, or misalignment with business requirements.
Review and ensure architectural designs are consistent, maintainable, flexible, and in line with the strategic direction of the business.
Influence the adoption and use of new techniques and technical practices and advocates continuous improvement.
Prototype and prove potential technology solutions with application teams to ensure consistent and effective implementations.
Act as a liaison between business functions and the technology organization to enable communication of strategic direction and initiatives.
Experience / Competences
Essential
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, system analysis or other technical subject, or equivalent experience
Experience in an IT solution development discipline, such as technical architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database management or operations.
Good understanding of strategic and new and emerging technology trends, and the practical application of existing, new and emerging technologies.
Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments.
Good analytical and technical skills.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Desired
Understanding of agile methods and processes, and capability of working with agile project teams.
Background of working in a financial or trading organisation.
Experience of Inter-Dealer Broking
Experience in modelling and graphic representations.
