Requirements
  • A high school diploma or General Education Development credential, and two years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic computations involving whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memoranda.
  • Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small-group situations to clients and other employees.
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to demonstrate good attendance and appropriate general hygiene and dress.
Responsibilities
  • Research, prepare, and attend unemployment hearings, including related appeal hearings.
  • Manage the Family and Medical Leave Act cycle to ensure time tracking, notices, approvals, and denials are completed timely and accurately.
  • Provide monthly unemployment reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer.
  • Answer calls from clients and employees regarding human resources issues and questions.
  • Respond to emails in a timely manner.
  • Assist the Chief Human Resources Officer with employee-relations issues.
  • Maintain working knowledge of applicable employment laws.
  • Provide administrative assistance to the Chief Human Resources Officer with human resources projects, investigations, and other human resources functions.
  • Review termination notices from payroll processors and inform the Chief Human Resources Officer of questionable terminations.
  • Create and send exit-interview surveys.
  • Prepare and process internal terminations.
  • Prepare evaluation documents for clients.
  • Distribute labor-law posters as needed.
  • Respond to subpoenas as needed.
  • Administer Work Opportunity Tax Credit paperwork.
  • Set up drug testing for new and existing clients.
  • Assist with risk-management and workers' compensation administrative functions.
  • Run or request workers' compensation certificates of coverage for clients.
  • Run motor-vehicle-record requests for clients as needed.
  • Assist with Affordable Care Act, Equal Employment Opportunity, affirmative action plan, and Department of Labor audit reporting.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor or another member of the Staffing and Human Resources Management Team.
Desired Qualifications
  • Society for Human Resource Management or Human Resource Certification Institute certification.
