Delivery Hero expands agentic AI strategy with partner-facing business assistant.

Delivery Hero expands agentic AI strategy with partner-facing business assistant. (IN BRIEF) Delivery Hero has launched a new agentic AI assistant designed to help local restaurants and shops grow by developing personalised business strategies and, after partner approval, directly implementing actions such as promotions, advertising campaigns, customer review responses, and improvements to menu content and product descriptions. The assistant works through WhatsApp, allowing owners to interact via text, voice notes and images, while also enabling the tool to make proactive recommendations if permitted. Built on large language models with advanced security controls, it requires explicit partner approval before making changes and learns from rejected suggestions to better align with each business's needs. Delivery Hero said the tool already supports more than 40,000 restaurants across its global brands and markets, with plans to expand to hundreds of thousands more, while restaurants using the assistant at Glovo have seen orders increase by 15 percent. The launch forms part of Delivery Hero's broader agentic AI strategy, following the earlier introduction of Herogen, its autonomous software delivery agent, as the company continues building its Everyday App for food, groceries and household essentials. (PRESS RELEASE) BERLIN, 13-Aug-2026 - /EuropaWire/ - Delivery Hero has launched a new agentic AI assistant designed to help neighbourhood restaurants and local shops accelerate growth, improve customer engagement and manage business tasks more efficiently. The tool can develop personalised growth strategies and, once approved by the partner, implement them directly through promotions, advertising campaigns, customer review responses, and improvements to menus, product descriptions and content. Delivery Hero said the assistant is intended to reduce the workload for small business owners while helping them identify opportunities to increase sales and improve performance. The company said restaurants using the AI assistant have already grown customer orders by 15 percent. The tool currently supports more than 40,000 partners across Delivery Hero's global brands and markets, with plans to expand availability to hundreds of thousands of additional restaurants and shops. Johannes Bruder, Chief Product Officer at Delivery Hero, said small business owners manage many tasks at once and that the new AI assistant helps them grow faster without adding to their workload. He said the tool is different because it does not only provide advice, but can act on behalf of business owners after they approve a recommendation. Bruder added that the assistant works directly inside a messaging app that partners already use and forms part of Delivery Hero's broader agentic AI strategy as the company builds the app customers reach for every day. Easy to use with instant business benefits Restaurant and shop owners interact with the AI assistant through WhatsApp. They can send text messages, voice notes and images to request help directly. If the business owner allows it, the assistant can also make proactive suggestions independently. When a recommendation is approved, the assistant can implement the change immediately, allowing the owner to focus on daily operations. The assistant can help improve menus and product listings by identifying dishes or products that are not performing well and recommending changes to boost sales. These improvements may include adding or enhancing images and descriptions. The tool can also recommend and set up advertising campaigns and promotions based on customer demand in the neighbourhood and competitor trends. It can analyse customer reviews, surface insights, draft suggested responses and refine product descriptions based on customer feedback. In addition, the assistant provides regular business updates, highlighting areas for improvement and offering practical recommendations to support better performance. Delivery Hero said the AI assistant is built on industry-leading large language models and includes advanced security controls. The assistant will not make changes without explicit approval from the partner. It also learns from rejected suggestions, allowing it to refine future recommendations and better align with each partner's preferences and business goals. Othman, owner of Bahraini Kabab in Dubai, said running a small restaurant often means handling every task personally, with limited time available. He said the AI assistant works like having an expert on the team, helping identify missed opportunities such as dishes that are not selling, good moments to run promotions or reviews that need a response. He added that the tool has helped bring in more orders without adding to his workload, while still allowing him to approve any changes before they are made. Early results show order growth Delivery Hero said the AI assistant has already shown measurable business impact only months after making its first suggestions. Across the company's global brands and markets, the tool now supports more than 40,000 restaurants, representing an early but fast-growing portion of Delivery Hero's approximately 1.5 million partners. The rollout will continue, with the company planning to bring agentic AI capabilities to hundreds of thousands of local shops and restaurants worldwide. At Glovo, Delivery Hero's brand in Southern Europe, Central Asia and Africa, restaurants that used the assistant recorded a 15 percent increase in orders. The new assistant is the latest development in Delivery Hero's agentic AI strategy. Earlier this year, the company announced Herogen, its in-house autonomous software delivery agent. Herogen currently delivers annual coding output equivalent to 130 senior engineers and is growing quickly, helping accelerate the rollout of new features. Delivery Hero said it uses artificial intelligence to improve the delivery of food, groceries and other household essentials as it works to capture more of its customers' everyday needs and develop its Everyday App. Through the new AI assistant, Delivery Hero is expanding its use of agentic AI from internal engineering productivity to direct support for restaurants and shops, helping partners improve operations, respond to customers and grow sales with less manual effort. Delivery Hero invests over RM20mil to expand ops.

Delivery Hero invests over RM20mil to expand ops. Wednesday, 05 Aug 2026 PETALING JAYA: Delivery Hero has relocated its Malaysia Shared Service Centre to a new office in Kuala Lumpur as the global food delivery group expands its regional operations in the country. The company said the new 38,000 sq ft facility at Multi-Purpose Tower involved an investment of more than RM20mil and will support its businesses across 16 markets in Asia Pacific, Turkiye and Europe, including foodpanda Malaysia. Notably, the Malaysia Shared Service Centre provides operational support to Delivery Hero's regional businesses, while foodpanda Malaysia continues to serve local consumers, merchants and delivery partners. Over the years, the centre has expanded its role to cover functions including customer experience, process excellence, technology, finance and people operations. Tareq Barto, chief executive of foodpanda, foodora and Yemeksepeti, said Malaysia has become an increasingly important hub for Delivery Hero's regional service operations because of its strategic location, multilingual workforce and digital ecosystem. "These strengths enable us to support multiple markets from a single location, while continuing to raise the bar for operational excellence across the region," he noted. He said the investment reflects Delivery Hero's long-term confidence in Malaysia and its workforce, adding that the company is creating more opportunities for Malaysians to take on specialised roles supporting international markets. Delivery Hero said it is also incorporating artificial intelligence and automation into its operations to reduce routine tasks, allowing employees to focus on more specialised work and more complex business challenges. The company is aiming for Malaysians to make up approximately 80% of the Malaysia Shared Service Centre workforce by 2027, as part of its strategy to develop local talent for regional roles. According to Barto, the expansion of the shared service centre is intended to equip employees with skills and experience that can support the group's businesses across multiple international markets. Kenneth Soh, managing director of foodpanda Malaysia, said having Delivery Hero's regional shared service capabilities based in Malaysia allows closer collaboration between the local business and regional operations. "Having the Malaysia Shared Service Centre's regional capabilities based in Malaysia enables us to respond faster, collaborate more effectively and continuously improve the experience we deliver every day," he said. He added that the company's workforce is adapting to new technologies, while taking on increasingly specialised responsibilities as the business evolves. Delivery Hero said the new facility was purpose-built to support collaboration, innovation and future ways of working, with the aim of strengthening operational capabilities and improving customer experience across the region. The group said it will continue investing in its people, technology and operational capabilities as it expands its regional support functions from Malaysia, adding that these investments are ultimately intended to improve services for customers, merchants and delivery partners across its markets.

Uber launches $14.8 billion takeover bid for Delivery Hero.

Uber launches $14.8 billion takeover bid for Delivery Hero. BERLIN, July 16 (Reuters) - Uber on Thursday launched a public takeover offer for Delivery Hero that values the German food delivery company at around $14.8 billion, as part of the U.S. ride-hailing firm's efforts to widen its food delivery network abroad. Uber, which has made the acquisition conditional on a minimum acceptance threshold of 50% plus one share, will offer €41.50 ($47.58) in cash per share. Acquiring Delivery Hero would widen the Uber Eats food-delivery network in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Latin America, but would also attract attention from antitrust regulators given the overlap in the companies' presence. Shares in Delivery Hero were up around 5.7% in premarket trading in Frankfurt after the announcement. The offer represents a roughly 34% premium on Delivery Hero's three-month volume-weighted average share price prior to the takeover announcement, said the company. Shares in Delivery Hero closed at €38.18 on Wednesday. As part of the agreement, Delivery Hero has agreed to sell part of its business covering 14 markets to U.S.-based investment firm SSW Partners for about €1.4 billion. Delivery Hero on Tuesday confirmed it was in advanced negotiations with Uber regarding a potential takeover offer. Major shareholder Prosus has agreed to sell its stake of just under 17% in the food delivery company, according to Uber. Including derivatives, Uber had already secured a stake of just under 37% in Delivery Hero. Uber to acquire Delivery Hero for $14.8B: what it means for Glovo and European antitrust.

Uber to acquire Delivery Hero for $14.8B: what it means for Glovo and European antitrust. Uber is on the verge of acquiring Delivery Hero, which will constitute a worldwide upheaval for the food delivery industry. July 15, 2026 Content manager in Marketing4eCommerce Uber is on the verge of acquiring Germany's Delivery Hero, in what would amount to a global-scale earthquake for the food delivery business. With combined business figures reaching into the billions of dollars, the giant created by this deal promises to become the clear dominant force in a market that has continued to grow in recent years. And it looks like Glovo, the Spanish company, will be one of the biggest companies affected. Uber is close to taking control of a billion-dollar sector. Delivery Hero, one of the leading players in the global food delivery sector, has officially confirmed that it "is engaged in advanced negotiations with Uber Technologies, Inc. regarding a possible public takeover offer addressed to all shareholders of the Company." In this way, Delivery Hero confirms the information first reported exclusively by Bloomberg on Tuesday, which spoke of Uber's interest in taking control of the company through a public takeover bid. At present, Uber already held a significant stake in the German company, amounting to around 25% of its shares. Other sources explain that Delivery Hero's current market value is around €11.2 billion ($12.8 billion). If completed, the deal would allow U.S.-based Uber, which has been active in the sector for years through Uber Eats, to dominate it with overwhelming superiority over its rivals (Just Eat Takeaway, DoorDash, or Meituan). Let Marketing4ecommerce remember that Delivery Hero is a massive corporate group, capable of generating €14.8 billion in annual revenue and handling 12 million orders per day, and it has grown substantially since its beginnings in Berlin in 2011 by acquiring, one after another, some of the regional leaders in markets across Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Africa, such as Foody, Foodora, Yemeksepeti, Pedidos Ya... ... and Glovo. In 2021, Delivery Hero bought 44% of the shares of Glovo, the benchmark food delivery company in Spain, although that was only the beginning of a relationship that, by the summer of 2022, led it to take control of 99% of the company founded by Oscar Pierre for around €2.3 billion, a figure far below some previous valuations. Since then, things have not always gone smoothly for this duo, which has had to face various regulatory crises worldwide (as happened with the so-called "Rider Law" in Spain) as well as a high-profile penalty from the European Commission. In 2025, the EU body fined Delivery Hero and Glovo €329 million after accusing them of participating in a cartel in the food delivery sector. According to Brussels, the two companies eliminated competition between them by dividing geographic markets, exchanging highly confidential commercial information, and agreeing to a "no-poach" arrangement not to hire each other's employees, harming both consumers and working conditions across the sector. It was the first time the Commission had penalized a no-poach agreement in the labor market and the anticompetitive use of a minority shareholding. Since both companies admitted their involvement in the cartel, they benefited from a settlement procedure that reduced their fines by 10%, resulting in a €223 million penalty for Delivery Hero and €105 million for Glovo. As you may have guessed, and with that precedent, the potential acquisition of Delivery Hero faces some regulatory hurdles, especially in Europe, where EU authorities have been particularly watchful in recent years regarding any large-scale corporate deal that could significantly reduce competition. After the transaction, Uber would go on to control the market in countries such as Spain, Portugal, or Italy through Glovo; Romania and Bulgaria through FoodPanda; and the Nordic countries through Foodora. Marketing4ecommerce will have to wait for the deal to be completed to see how Brussels reacts. Image: ChatGPT
