Role Summary:

Wabtec’s LeadershipExpertise &AcceleratedDevelopment (LEAD) is a prestigious program for young professionals who have a passion for technology, a drive for excellence, and share in Wabtec’s core values. The program is designed to accelerate participants' professional development through intense technical training and a variety of business-critical assignments. LEAD graduates have proven to be the vanguards of technical and business excellence and have track record of proactively and continually making innovative contributions to Wabtec’s future.

Essential Responsibilities:

Design and development of locomotive control system features and algorithms on real time embedded system platform. This involves carrying out control system design & modelling in the area of engine, propulsion & auxiliary power, drives control, integration and train control. 

Carrying out RTOS based embedded software development while following object-oriented based development methodologies, adherence to configuration control and SW build & release process.

Product verification-testing and verification of control system in Hardware in the loop environment before carrying out validation on product.  

Participate in product conceptual designs and concept trade off analysis.

Interact with locomotive system, sub-systems, component teams to define and document requirements and interfaces.

Provide designs that are robust, that meet cost and reliability targets.

Execute simulation and testing on hardware in the loop setup, carryout locomotive testing to validate design as part of engineering testing and product acceptance.

Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements

Work with cross-functional and global teams to meet project objectives.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Basic Qualifications

• Candidates shall have bachelor’s or master’s degree with a proven track record in academic Streams - Electrical / Electronics/ Controls Engineers with background / specialization in Real Time Control Systems, Power Electronics, Communications and Networking, Electric Machines, Hardware Design
• Minimum cumulative 8 CGPA.
• Graduating by May/June 2026.

• A strong commitment to a career in technology with a passion and aptitude for both controls and embedded software technologies.
• Prior intern, co-op, or research experience in Electrical & Controls or relevant area.
• Solves technical challenges through regular application of domain for problem solving and applies strong analytical mindset to solve these complex problems with an innovative and out-of-the-box thinking.
• Strong customer focus, ability to understand the value proposition for the customer, and commitment to deliver the best value proposition.
• Able to engage positively across multiple departments to establish clarity, vision, and mutual trust to achieve business goals.
• Demonstrated program / project management skills working with multidisciplinary teams.
• Leadership experience inside and/or outside the classroom.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to articulate technical problems in clear and simple terms.
• Contributes to creative solutions and challenges the status quo.
• Proactively learns new tools and identifies opportunities for improvement and promotes their adoption.
