This position can be located in Los Angeles or San Francisco, CA.
Tinder empowers users around the world to create new connections that otherwise might never have been possible! We build products that bring people together and are a small team focusing on individual responsibility and rapid development. We are looking for a Sr Director of BI to join our team. As a qualified candidate, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating the business intelligence efforts of Tinder. You have experience developing and implementing strategies for strategic and business performance, analysis, reporting, and translating business metrics to actions and strategy.
In this role, you will work closely with other members of the product and analytics leadership team, as well as with business units and departments across the organization, to ensure that BI is aligned with the overall goals and objectives of Tinder. Your key partners will be the analytics and finance team, but as need arises you may be required to hire BI specialists to support the business.
In this role, you will:
- Understand and analyze the current business performance and trends daily.
- Inform Tinder Exec and Product Leadership on current ecosystem health and subsequent business performance.
- Lead ad hoc investigations as performance issues arise, coordinating multiple teams and departments to determine root causes and solutions.
- Lead Product Strategic Planning by partnering with Strategic Insights, Finance, and Analytics to recommend strategic focus areas based on consumer engagement data and business performance insights.
- Develop and implement strategies for data collection, analysis, and reporting on business and ecosystem health.
- Work closely with the executive team and other stakeholders to ensure that BI is aligned with the overall goals and objectives of Tinder.
- Automate reports and provide custom reporting and metrics according to key audiences within the business.
- Grow and develop a small team, investing in career development through ongoing coaching, feedback, and training (future state).
You Have:
- Masters in a relevant field (e.g. computer science, statistics, business) or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of experience in business intelligence and data analysis.
- 2+ years of experience leading and developing teams.
- The ability to build strong relationships with partners across the organization.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
- Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets functions and formulas.
- Experience with BI tools and technologies (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI, SQL) is a plus.
- Experience in product strategy and roadmaps.
- Superb Communication skills, attention to detail, time management, and troubleshooting ability.
- Deep excitement for using data to find and execute opportunities others don’t see.
- Experience working with consumer mobile apps is a plus.
The salary range for this position is $248,000 - $290,000. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary range is reflective of a position based in California. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
