IBC 2026: Qvest to demonstrate multi-vendor Dynamic Media Facility showcase. 03/09/2026 Qvest will present a multi-vendor Dynamic Media Facility (DMF) showcase at IBC2026 (Booth 10.C24), demonstrating how the EBU's DMF architecture can be implemented through a software-defined production environment running on commodity and cloud infrastructure. Broadcasters are increasingly looking beyond architectural concepts and asking what already works in practice, says Daniel Clasen, Practice Lead Custom Software Solutions, Qvest. With the DMF Showcase, we are demonstrating how open, software-defined production can be implemented today. Together with our partners, we are turning the Dynamic Media Facility from a reference architecture into a practical reference implementation and providing a blueprint for the future of media production. One of the biggest opportunities in software-defined production is to use resources more efficiently, says Patrick Steinert, Head of Technology Consulting, Qvest. Production environments are often underutilized because infrastructure is dedicated to individual workflows. Our DMF Showcase demonstrates how shared, software-defined resources can be used more efficiently across a variety of production scenarios and provide a practical path toward more flexible and efficient operations. It also reflects an important milestone: we have created a functional DMF implementation, which will soon be deployed in customer environments. The showcase brings together the following partners and their contributions: Intel - Intel Xeon processor-based servers with E800 series NICs for ST 2110 and RDMA as the compute foundation; Matrox Video - ORIGIN asynchronous media framework with Kubernetes-native scheduling; NETGEAR - M4350-40X4C 40-port 10G switch with 100G uplinks for ST 2110 and management traffic; Ross Video - SRT-to-MXL media function for integrating SRT contribution feeds into the MXL environment; Riedel - containerized MXL replication for multi-node media processing; Skyline Communications - DataMiner xOps for event planning, orchestration, and lifecycle management; TAG Video Systems - TAG Core software multiviewing and QC across MXL, ST 2110, compressed, and OTT signals; Telos Alliance - Minnetonka Audio UPMAX for immersive audio and ARC for loudness compliance as containerized media functions; Techex - tx darwin for standards conversion, switching, and compression with MXL integration; Telestream - Pulse platform for MXL-based ST 2110 flow integration and waveform/vectorscope monitoring; Wavelet Beam - IRIS-VIDEO GPU-accelerated live denoising alongside MXL Player, Recorder, and 10 Bit Viewer. 05/01/2027. A dozen tech companies join forces at IBC to host a multi-vendor Dynamic Media Facility showcase. Qvest has announced that it will present the most interconnected multi-vendor Dynamic Media Facility (DMF) Showcase at IBC 2026 (booth 10.C24). Developed together with industry partners, the showcase aims to demonstrate how the European Broadcasting Union's (EBU) Dynamic Media Facility architecture can be implemented in practice through an open, interoperable software-defined production environment, as the company has claimed in a statement. Qvest's Dynamic Media Facility (DMF) Showcase brings together orchestration, media processing, audio, monitoring, and lifecycle management capabilities from multiple vendors within a shared fully operational environment. Running on commodity infrastructure as well as in cloud environments, it looks forward to demonstrating how software-defined production workflows can be deployed across different infrastructure models without vendor lock-in. "Broadcasters are increasingly looking beyond architectural concepts and asking what already works in practice", notes Daniel Clasen, Practice Lead Custom Software Solutions at Qvest. "With the DMF Showcase, we are demonstrating how open, software-defined production can be implemented today. Together with our partners, we are turning the Dynamic Media Facility from a reference architecture into a practical reference implementation and providing a blueprint for the future of media production". Qvest, Ateme and Scaleway partner on sovereign OTT platform. Qvest, Ateme and Scaleway have partnered to deliver production-ready sovereign over-the-top (OTT) platforms built entirely on European technology, targeting broadcasters, media organisations and sports rights holders seeking greater control over their streaming infrastructure and data. The joint offering combines Scaleway's European cloud infrastructure, Ateme's video delivery technologies and Qvest's consultancy, systems integration and managed services to provide an end-to-end OTT platform designed for deployment on sovereign cloud infrastructure. The partnership comes as broadcasters across Europe face increasing regulatory requirements and strategic pressure to reduce reliance on non-European cloud providers. The companies said the platform is available immediately and can be used to launch new streaming services, migrate existing OTT environments or be deployed as a managed service operated by Qvest. The platform includes the components required to build and operate an OTT service, including ingest, encoding, packaging, content delivery, digital rights management (DRM), analytics and frontend integration. Under the partnership, Scaleway provides the sovereign cloud infrastructure, while Ateme supplies live encoding, packaging, origin, content delivery network (CDN) and server-side ad insertion technologies. Qvest is responsible for platform architecture, integration of third-party technologies such as DRM, media players and analytics, and can also provide ongoing operational support through managed services. The companies said the collaboration aligns with the European Union's Cloud Sovereignty Framework (CSF) and its SEAL sovereignty model, which are increasingly being used as benchmarks in public procurement. Rather than promoting a single definition of sovereignty, Qvest said it designs each platform to meet the specific requirements of individual tenders and customer deployments. The partnership is intended to provide broadcasters with a European-based alternative for deploying OTT services while supporting migration away from non-European hyperscale cloud providers. Qvest, Ateme and Scaleway will jointly demonstrate the platform at IBC Show 2026, taking place in Amsterdam from September 11-14, where visitors will be able to see a live demonstration of the complete OTT workflow running on sovereign European infrastructure. 21/08/2017 With its Digital Tech Hub, Qvest Media is encouraging the exchange of global trends between the media and broadcasting industry at this year's IBC Sho 13/08/2018 Qvest Media is to unveil its latest development, Qvest.Cloud, at the upcoming IBC show in Amsterdam, 14-18 September. Qvest, Ateme and Scaleway deliver sovereign OTT platforms for European broadcasters. 24/07/2026 Qvest, Ateme, and Scaleway have partnered to offer broadcasters, media organizations, and sports rights holders sovereign OTT platforms built on European technology. The joint solution combines Scaleway's cloud infrastructure, Ateme's video technology, and Qvest's consultancy, systems integration, and managed services. As broadcasters across Europe face increasing regulatory requirements and pressure to reduce dependency on non-European cloud providers, the three companies say their partnership offers a ready-to-implement solution. The offering covers the components required to build and operate a sovereign OTT platform, from ingest, encoding, and packaging to content delivery, DRM, analytics, and frontend integration. Broadcasters can use the solution to launch new streaming services, migrate existing environments, or engage Qvest as a managed service partner. Each partner contributes a distinct area of expertise: Scaleway provides European cloud infrastructure; Ateme provides live encoding, packaging, origin, CDN, and server-side ad insertion; and Qvest designs the architecture, integrates third-party components such as DRM, players, and analytics, and can operate the platform as a managed service. The collaboration is aligned with the European Union's Cloud Sovereignty Framework (CSF) and its SEAL sovereignty model, which are used as a reference for scoring sovereignty in public procurement. Qvest designs each platform to meet the specific requirements of individual tenders rather than making absolute sovereignty claims. The growing awareness and demand around digital sovereignty has moved beyond strategy, said Tobias K nkel, Managing Director at Qvest Engage, a subsidiary of Qvest Group. Now, broadcasters need solutions that can be implemented. Together with Ateme and Scaleway, we are bringing production-ready sovereign OTT platforms to broadcasters that combine operational maturity with European sovereignty. Digital sovereignty is becoming a strategic priority for broadcasters across Europe, said R mi Beaudouin, Chief Strategy Officer at Ateme. The combination of Ateme's proven video technology, Scaleway's European cloud infrastructure and Qvest's integration expertise gives media organizations a practical path to modernize their OTT platforms while maintaining greater control over their infrastructure, operations and data. Europe has all the capabilities required to support the next generation of streaming services. The real challenge is bringing them together in a way that broadcasters can adopt with confidence. This OTT platform turns strategic autonomy into a practical choice by combining proven European cloud and streaming technologies within a complete operational environment. It gives media organizations greater control over their infrastructure and long-term technology decisions, said Damien Lucas, CEO of Scaleway. The solution is available for broadcasters looking to launch new streaming services, migrate existing OTT platforms away from non-European providers, or consume the platform as a managed service operated by Qvest. 05/01/2027. HbbTV opens entries for 2026 awards ahead of Barcelona Symposium. The HbbTV Association has begun accepting entries for the HbbTV Awards 2026, inviting providers of HbbTV applications, services, technologies and solutions to put forward their best work. This year's competition will be staged during the 14th HbbTV Symposium and Awards on 18-19 November 2026 in Barcelona, Spain, co-hosted by the HbbTV Association and 3Cat, Catalonia's public media corporation. The event will take place at the Catalonia Barcelona Plaza Hotel and bring together leaders from across the connected TV ecosystem. The awards ceremony is scheduled for the evening of 18 November, the opening day of the conference. Submissions are free and can be made via the online form at forms.gle/rLrfLJH1P5dgSPwY7, which also provides further information for entrants. Reflecting current market trends, the HbbTV Association has refreshed its categories for 2026, introducing Excellence in HbbTV Audience Measurement & Analytics to acknowledge the growing role of HbbTV-powered audience insights, improved measurement accuracy and advanced analytics. The topic also features in this year's Symposium conference programme and aligns with the recently formed HbbTV Audience Measurement Application Interest Group: www.hbbtv.org/news-events/hbbtv-launches-audience-measurement-group-to-accelerate-innovation-across-the-tv-ecosystem/. - Excellence in HbbTV Audience Measurement & Analytics - Outstanding HbbTV Advertising Campaign - HbbTV Application Innovation Award - HbbTV Enabling Technology Award - HbbTV Rising Star Award Companies may submit multiple entries but only across a maximum of two categories, with a separate form required for each submission. An independent jury of industry experts will evaluate entries against criteria such as innovation, technical merit, execution, impact and overall contribution to the HbbTV ecosystem. The HbbTV Rising Star Award, formerly the "HbbTV Newcomer of the Year" Judges' Award, is now a standard category. Organisations can nominate themselves or third parties, including customers, partners or suppliers. The award recognises companies that are relatively new to HbbTV and have demonstrated exceptional innovation, technical excellence, market impact or a strong commitment to ecosystem growth. The deadline for entries is 18 September 2026. A shortlist of finalists will be selected for review by the expert panel, which will choose the winners. "The HbbTV Awards have become an important platform for recognising innovation and excellence across the connected TV ecosystem. The updated categories reflect the evolution of the market, including the growing importance of audience measurement, advanced advertising, innovative applications and the technologies enabling new services. I encourage all companies developing HbbTV-based solutions to submit their achievements and compete for recognition at the HbbTV Symposium and Awards in Barcelona," said Vincent Grivet, Chair of the HbbTV Association. Examples of innovative HbbTV applications, including past entries, finalists and winners, can be explored in the HbbTV Application Showcase: developer.hbbtv.org/showcase_app/. At the HbbTV Awards 2025 in Istanbul, winners included 3Cat, TVekstra, Everyone TV and BCi Digital for achievements spanning accessibility, advertising, technology innovation, content discovery and HbbTV service delivery.
