Requirements
  • A minimum of two years of claims examining experience and completion of Partnership Claims training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Familiarity with Medi-Cal and/or managed care claims processing.
  • Knowledge of Current Procedural Terminology procedure coding, Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System procedure coding, and International Classification of Diseases diagnostic coding.
  • A typing speed of 30 words per minute and proficient use of a 10-key calculator.
  • Familiarity with AMISYS or similar claims systems.
  • Understanding of claims examining requirements.
  • A valid California driver's license and proof of current automobile insurance compliant with Partnership policy are required to operate a vehicle and travel for company business.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, exercise good judgment within the scope of authority, handle sensitive issues tactfully and diplomatically, manage multiple tasks within established time frames and conflicting priorities, and maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Ability to use a computer keyboard and, when required, move, carry, or lift objects weighing up to five pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Train examiner and customer service level I staff on all related claim types for all Partnership lines of business using the AMISYS Advance system and Claims Operating Instruction Memorandums.
  • Train all levels of staff on all claim types at on-site or regional sites.
  • Train all levels of staff on CIF processing and on generating and processing adjustments at on-site and regional sites.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to the Claims Audit Supervisor and Associate Director of Claims regarding staff training needs and system adjustments.
  • Create and maintain training materials.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Partnership Claims Policy and Procedures for all lines of business, the Medi-Cal Provider Manual, Title 22 regulations, Knox-Keene regulations, and CMS Medicare regulations.
  • Draft Claims Operating Instruction documentation for the Claims Director as assigned.
  • Assist with system testing as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
