Requirements
  • Knowledge of advanced layout, use of Simon forms, layout of anchor bolts, material takeoff from drawings, and safety requirements for building work.
  • Ability to learn and understand safety hazards related to the work and safely and effectively use work-related tools and equipment.
  • Ability to push, pull, lift, or carry up to 50 pounds, with occasional loads up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to perform repetitive use of the hands, arms, and legs, with adequate hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities
  • Design, construct, erect, install, and repair structures and other items made of wood, plywood, and wallboard using pneumatic and electric power tools.
  • Fasten materials together with nails, screws, staples, and adhesives, and perform a final accuracy check.
  • Work in a plant operations or construction jobsite setting.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and sketches, and complete reports.
  • Instruct laborers and other construction trade helpers.
  • Build and set forms, use a level instrument, tie rebar, build scaffolds, perform finish carpentry, read a tape or ruler, set screeds, install batter boards, and operate various hand and power tools.
  • Inspect areas and conduct repairs or maintenance.
  • Assist other craft workers as needed.
