On-Call Community Engagement Specialist

ICF is seeking an On-Call Community Engagement Specialist. This is an on-call hourly position. The Community Engagement Specialist would be part of the Environmental and Planning Stakeholder Engagement Practice and provide strategic communications, engagement, and outreach support to clients across sectors and across the U.S. Position is remote and can be located anywhere in the U.S. This position has the potential to become a full-time position depending on project needs, performance, and your availability.
About On-Call Employment with ICF
Given the project-specific nature of our environmental work, ICF often hires environmental professionals as “On-Call” employees. On-Call employees are scheduled for work hours as they become available, and each on-call employee is free to accept or refuse the hours assigned to them in a given week. On-Call employees may work concurrent projects outside of their ICF assignment (along as their outside work does not create a conflict of interest with the work they do for ICF). The pay range listed for this position is required to be provided in a salaried format, but your work would be paid on an hourly basis.
What you will be doing:
- Work directly with clients as well as internal project management teams and community engagement teams.
- Support and or run and or facilitate public meetings (virtual and in-person).
- Develop strategic communication and engagement plans and implement their projects.
- Develop specific communication and engagement content.
- Review engagement work products developed by other ICF staff, clients, and other contractors or subcontractors.
- Provide leadership to ensure tasks are completed to meet clients’ satisfaction.
- Provide facilitation support to high profile and controversial projects.
What we need you to have (minimum qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years of experience in communications, engagement, outreach and/or related experience
What would be useful:
- Facilitation experience with the willingness to learn
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong work ethic with a positive attitude
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:
$69,862.00 - $118,765.00Nationwide Remote Office (US99)
