Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required.
  • At least one year of experience is required.
  • A valid Florida Registered Nurse license is required.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • HIV certification is required.
  • Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
  • Technical proficiency using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Assess, troubleshoot, and report data-collection problems to appropriate managing staff.
  • Identify desired research outcomes and evaluate and monitor subjects' responses.
  • Conduct initiation visits and register patients in clinical studies.
  • Collect and enter study data using charts, correspondence, medical records, and relevant communications.
  • Identify and procure equipment and supplies needed to fulfill project requirements.
  • Educate staff and subjects about protocols, treatments, possible side effects, and complications.
  • Collect and handle specimens as required by study protocols.
  • Prepare and process new research proposals and amendments and monitor applications and adverse events.
  • Assist with study completion, data lock, study closeout, and archiving of study files.
  • Check clinical data entered on case report forms for accuracy and revise discrepancies.
  • Support research projects for the Comprehensive Center for Brain Health under supervision.
  • Work with the Director as part of an interprofessional, transdisciplinary team in the clinical research setting.
  • Perform standardized scales, vital signs, anthropometric measurements, memory and functional screenings, neuro checks, electrocardiograms, and blood draws.
  • Ensure the proper use and maintenance of medical equipment, including infusion pumps and defibrillators.
  • Order, stock, and maintain emergency medications, oxygen, unit medical supplies, and other inventory.
  • Develop and execute patient emergency response plans when necessary.
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures as needed.
  • Collect and process blood samples according to protocol requirements.
  • Apply critical nursing judgment to maintain research protocol integrity without compromising patient safety.
  • Determine participant eligibility and exclusion criteria and identify needed protocol modifications and adverse responses.
  • Help prepare Institutional Review Board applications and assist with recruitment strategies and promotional materials.
  • Coordinate participant enrollment, determine patient eligibility, and obtain informed consent.
  • Create and maintain participant charts and coordinate participant appointments.
  • Collect, organize, and maintain source documentation.
  • Ensure protocols are followed as approved by the Institutional Review Board and report adverse events.
  • Assist with research data collection and initiate research under supervision as appropriate.
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
