  • Competent and proficient with patient information systems (ADT) and willingness to work at various registration sites as needed is required for positions in the Access dept.
Responsibilities
  • Greet patient using AIDET and excellent customer service. Check patient into the correct tracking solution for the presenting department. Answer multiple phone lines and research order issues for regulatory compliance. File PHI and other documentation for patients. Review the scheduling system to assist patients. Provide parking tickets and provide direction to patients, visitors, and guests of Roper Saint Francis Healthcare.
  • Meet and discuss bills/billing issues with patients; calculate patients’ financial liability and inform patient during interview; collect appropriate out of pocket patient expenses and consistently document financial collections and attempts. If appropriate, refer patient/account to appropriate financial assistance/benefits counselors.) and correctly bill patient. Promptly submit collected funds to appropriate person/area/safe, etc. Reconciliation of petty cash daily and immediate reporting to management of discrepancies.
  • Performs a full patient interview and captures all required patient demographics as outlined by CMS and other regulatory and reporting agencies. Identification of active insurance coverage, primary care provider relationships and emergency contacts are essential to the patient interview. Utilizing established systems, verifies all entered information is accurate with minimal denial and/or delays in the billing process while meting quality standards.
  • Perform registrations in a timely manner providing for safe patient care. Identification of STAT patients within the ER and the timely notification to clinical department. This includes, but is not limited to, STEMI’s, Hot/Cold Stokes, Labor and Delivery, and STAT patients. Emergency department staff must monitor the ER clinical computer system for patient admissions; patients arriving via rescue services needing immediate registration, and patients whose medical screenings are completed so that a full bedside registration can be completed following EMTALA guidelines. Transports patients as needed to scheduled procedure areas.
  • Makes available to patients required information including patient handbooks, notice of privacy practice, and financial assistance/501r. Captures regulatory information including MSP capture, Medicare and Tricare admission/observation forms. Monitors and reports Master Patient Index issues to the medical records team for correction. Properly stores and discards protected patient health information including all registration documents and financial information. Reports all breaches of HIPPA and EMTALA compliance following defined processes. Reports patient and teammate safety events via MARSH Clearsight.
  • Maintains current knowledge of insurance, local, state and federal requirements and registration updates and/or registration information. Completes all required learning and CBL modules timely.
