Responsibilities
  • Under the direction of the registered nurse and provider, delivers clinical assistance to patients within the Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Center.
  • Reviews and prepares medical record and clinic rooms prior to clinic start, between patients and end of clinic day
  • Maintains optimal flow of patients for efficiency of practice.
  • Escorts patients into the exam area.
  • Prepares patient for the physical exam.
  • Takes and records routine vital signs, heights, weights.
  • Obtains blood glucose.
  • Reports any abnormal values to the nurse.
  • Documents results in patients EMR.
  • Responsible for undressing the wound area, cleansing the limb/ wound area, measuring and photographing the wound area.
  • Documents results in patients EMR.
  • Assists nursing staff and providers in the treatment rooms as directed.
  • May be required to perform direct patient care, i.e., assist with physical care, cast removal, dressing, toileting, patient monitoring, specimen retrieval.
  • Transports patients to other settings as directed.
  • Assists in data entry.
  • Orders, organizes, stores, and maintains par levels of medical supplies in clinic and exam areas.
  • Provides coverage for unit coordinator: telephone, scheduling, insurance auth. and billing input.
  • Obtains labels and sends patient specimens as ordered.
  • Ensures accurate coding for visits and procedures performed
  • Carries out other tasks as directed by the Clinical Leader, Nurse Practitioner or Director
  • Maintain and adhere to all Beth Israel Deaconess Plymouth, OSHA, CLIA and government regulations.
  • Performs all tasks in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the unit.
