Responsibilities
  • Support the setup, execution, and delivery of innovative marketing campaigns.
  • Schedule internal and external meetings, process expense reports and invoices, coordinate and book travel, order office supplies, conduct mailings, and manage multiple executives' calendars.
  • Create and update artist career one-sheets, hype sheets, fact sheets, and timelines for internal and external distribution.
  • Assist in developing and executing artist marketing plans by participating in meetings, creating artist pitch decks, and communicating with relevant departments.
  • Schedule product releases and ensure production deadlines are met.
  • Pull, analyze, and distribute weekly Soundscan, Mediabase, Tableau, and Music Connect reports to internal teams and managers.
  • Maintain, organize, and distribute artists' assets to the company and external clients.
  • Coordinate with the creative department to create artist assets, including graphics, print ads, hype sheets, posters, stickers, and digital assets.
  • Write copy for promotional assets, including one-sheets, stickers, posters, and print ads.
  • Plan and implement artist events, including listening sessions and release parties, by coordinating with vendors and venues, maintaining a budget, creating promotional materials, and being on site to ensure smooth execution.
  • Liaise with third-party marketing and street-team companies to create and distribute tools such as posters, stickers, and T-shirts.
  • Process invoices by setting up vendors in the system, coding invoices in financial systems, and corresponding with vendors to ensure payment.
  • Attend meetings, take notes, and prepare materials for circulation before and after meetings.
  • Support and develop relationships with lifestyle and strategic brands involved in marketing-related events for Warner Records and its artists.
  • Collate artist budget requests weekly.
  • Update the team's roster contact sheet for team members, artist management, vendors, and other contacts.
Desired Qualifications
  • A background in Marketing through a degree or at least one year of relevant work experience in the music or entertainment industry.
  • Connections in the culture and relationships with external entities or brands that could create developmental opportunities for artists.
  • Comprehensive experience using Mac platforms.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, including Docs, Slides, Sheets, and Gmail.
  • Professional experience using social media and knowledge of social media trends.
  • A personal network of industry and creative contacts.
  • An ability to quickly administer and fulfill day-to-day requests.
  • A strong desire to learn the overall operations of a record company.

Major labels narrow streaming growth gap with Spotify to 7 percentage points

Major music labels narrowed their streaming growth gap with Spotify in Q2 2026, according to Barclays' 12th Global Music Results Wrap released on 21 August. The labels averaged 8.3% streaming growth, with Warner Music Group leading at 11.3% and Universal Music Group at 5.6%. Spotify reported stronger growth at 14.6% for the period. However, the gap between label performance and Spotify shrank to 7 percentage points from an all-time high of 17 percentage points in Q2 2024. Warner's overall revenue increased 9% at constant currency to approximately $1.86 billion for the quarter, with subscription streaming revenue rising 11% year-over-year. Spotify expects €5.0 billion in revenues during Q3 2026, representing 17.0% reported revenue growth and 15.0% constant currency growth.

Music publishers sue Anthropic, allege "blantant theft" of copyrighted music. Ben Berkowitz Some of the world's largest music publishers filed a blockbuster lawsuit against Anthropic late Friday night, alleging "one of the largest and most blatant ongoing thefts of intellectual property in history." Why it matters: The suit is the opening salvo in what is now likely to be a yearslong fight over music, AI, and how intellectual property is protected in a new era of technology. Driving the news: Units of Sony Music and Warner Music filed the suit in federal court in northern California late Friday night, naming Anthropic, CEO Dario Amodei and co-founder Benjamin Mann as defendants. What they're saying: "Defendants Anthropic and its founders Dario Amodei and Benjamin Mann have conducted a brazen campaign of illegally torrenting, scraping, and downloading copyrighted works on a massive scale in order to develop, operate, and reap enormous profits from Anthropic's 'Claude' series of artificial intelligence ('AI') models," the plaintiffs write in the 48-page complaint. * They also claim that Anthropic pirated thousands of copyrighted musical works and ask for hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages per infringed work. Between the lines: This suit is not the first time Anthropic has been accused of piracy to train its models. * In September 2025, the company agreed to the largest copyright settlement in U.S. history, a $1.5 billion deal with authors and publishers. Yes, but: The music industry is notorious for being litigious when it comes to copyright, as anyone who was around in the heyday of Napster and LimeWire can attest. Founded in 2019, Stability AI became widely known through Stable Diffusion, an open generative AI image model that helped accelerate public access to AI image creation tools. The company is now expanding beyond image generation by developing additional AI systems for creative industries. Stability AI CEO Prem Akkaraju said the funding supports the company's vision of using generative AI to help producers, musicians and storytellers create new content.
