Responsibilities
  • Performs carpentry maintenance tasks to the interior and exterior of academic, student dormitories, and office buildings. This includes repair and maintenance to roofs, guttering, window and door hardware, lock mechanisms, replacing floor and ceiling tile, patching and painting sheetrock/plaster walls, and making roof repairs.
  • Performs repair and maintenance tasks to building furnishings and furniture, including window dressings such as shades, blinds, curtain hangers and supports, desks, chairs, and other furnishings typically found inside of a building.
  • Performs construction and fabrication to items such as cabinets, bookcases, and shelving. Renovates existing facilities with materials such as concrete, mortar, brick, block, lumber, drywall and metal framing components.
  • Interprets structural drawings and schematics as they relate to building structural components. When necessary, creates simple drawings and sketches for conveying an idea or plan.
  • Performs construction projects as required by the supervisor including but not limited to hanging doors, building walls, replacing glass, etc.
  • Performs snow removal duties as assigned.
  • Performs other general repair and maintenance duties as required by supervisor.
  • Provides own hand tools.
Desired Qualifications
  • Completion of an accredited trade school program specializing in the carpentry field.
  • Seven years of experience in the diversified carpentry trades, including finish carpentry skills with cabinetry, shelving, etc.
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with masonry tasks as it relates to supporting the carpentry trades.
  • Ability to operate carpentry trade power tools and hand tools.
  • Ability to use and operate ancillary tools that assist in work completion such as ladders, lifts, scaffolding, vacuums, fans, and other associated tools as needed.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Proficiency navigating various forms of computerized technology both currently used systems and processes as well as future technologies.
  • Must be able to use a computer to research and provide needed information, complete necessary forms and assigned training.
