Requirements
  • Deep knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, HVAC design, and hydronic systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of prefabricated equipment, modular/skid systems, and Design for Manufacturability/Value Analysis and Value Engineering practices.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, Revit, AutoCAD, or similar.
  • Skill with design and analysis tools such as coil selection software, hydronic modeling, or computational fluid dynamics.
  • Working knowledge of electrical distribution, controls, and BAS/BMS systems, including variable frequency drives, motor control centers, switchgear, safeties, and BACnet/Modbus points lists.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and codes such as ASHRAE guidelines, UL safety standards, and NFPA codes.
  • Ability to maintain tight revision control across engineering documentation.
  • Strong analytical ability to size and select fans, coils, pumps, valves, and piping, including calculation packages and design notes.
  • Ability to translate customer requirements and drawings into manufacturable, scalable technical solutions.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple deliverables, and meet design freeze deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate across electrical, controls, sales, supply chain, and operations teams.
  • Ability to independently own configuration decisions and execution readiness as a senior individual contributor.
  • Ability to troubleshoot effectively during prototyping, factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, and first-article builds.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote environment with minimal supervision and strong self-management skills.
  • Ability to leverage artificial intelligence and emerging technologies to optimize workflows and support innovation.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to rent vehicles.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Seven or more years of experience in electrical systems, power distribution, or industrial product development.
  • Deep knowledge of electrical design fundamentals, including load analysis, grounding, protection, and arc-flash principles.
  • Ability to remain stationary frequently, move through office and facility environments, and occasionally move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Lead development of prefabricated mechanical offerings such as fan coil units, chilled water skids, hydronic systems, and integrated assemblies.
  • Translate customer requirements and drawings into manufacturable, scalable solutions with clear bills of materials and options.
  • Independently select and size fans, coils, pumps, valves, and piping, providing calculation packages and design notes.
  • Collaborate with electrical and controls teams on integration of variable frequency drives, motor control centers, switchgear, safeties, and BAS/EPMS points lists using BACnet/Modbus.
  • Partner with the Supply Chain Director, Operations Director, Sales, and President to align designs with vendor capacity, cost targets, delivery schedules, and customer needs.
  • Support prototyping, factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, and first-article builds; troubleshoot issues and close gaps.
  • Produce and maintain datasheets, submittals, installation, operation, and maintenance documents, and application guides under tight revision control.
  • Work with vendors and fabricators on tolerances, weld and piping standards, coatings, vibration, and quality assurance/quality control processes.
  • Contribute to intellectual property development by modularizing platforms and applying Design for Manufacturability/Value Analysis and Value Engineering principles.
  • Complete assigned deliverables on time and within budget.
  • Execute and lead teams and projects, tasks, or assignments of complex scope.
  • Determine methods and procedures on new assignments and coordinate activities of other personnel as needed.
  • Travel to client sites, meetings, conferences, and other business locations as required, up to 25%.
Desired Qualifications
  • Mission-critical or data center experience.
  • Experience with data center or mission-critical equipment such as CRAHs/CRACs, fan coils, chilled water plants, or CDUs.
  • Exposure to commissioning processes, including factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, or other system-level testing.
  • Familiarity with HVAC, electrical, and mechanical system design standards and codes such as ASHRAE guidelines, UL safety standards, or NFPA codes.
  • Comfort working with enterprise resource planning, customer relationship management, or product lifecycle management systems such as NetSuite or HubSpot.
  • Hands-on experience with coil selection software, hydronic modeling, or computational fluid dynamics.
  • Advanced degree or equivalent industry experience.
