Job Description
The Area Group Sales Manager is accountable for booking group business in assigned markets. Active in developing new group business and promoting existing business, reporting to Fairmont Orchid's Director of Sales and Marketing.
What you will be doing:
- Exceed personal sales goals, monthly, quarterly, and annually, through account development and maintenance.
- Develop monthly sales strategy and action plans with quarterly quotas (Room Nights/sales activities), and develop rapport with relevant Fairmont Global Sales Office(s), key partners in travel and tourism related industries/travel bureaus.
- Determine and recommend prospective customers from market information.
- Partner with regional and national sister hotels to optimize Fairmont exposure and incremental business.
- Keep accurate records of potential customers & follow through on all potential business.
- Quote and negotiate prices within established parameters.
- Upon closing, coordinate and follow up with convention services, catering, and/or other hotel departments to ensure delivery of the hotel's promised services.
- Utilize Delphi Sales System to track, solicit, book, and follow up accounts.
- Conduct and participate in site inspection and industry trade shows.
- Schedule, coordinate, and financially manage effective business trips, appointments, FAM Trips, and conferences within the given territory, including reports or activities about assigned markets.
- Collect market and competitive intelligence
- Assist as directed, in the planning and strategies of the Group Sales effort, with development of competitive intelligence and in the preparation of the Marketing plan
- Jointly supervise one sales coordinator, training activity, reviews, and goal setting.
- Handle special projects as assigned.
- Participate in prescribed training and special projects.
- Support goals, objectives, and philosophies of The Fairmont Orchid and of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and encourage a positive team approach.
Qualifications
Your experience and skills include:
- Prepare and support the processing of expense reports, invoices, month-end, and forecasting, in particular for Fairmont Orchid, for submission to DOSM Fairmont Orchid, and, where needed and relevant, to DOSM Fairmont Kea Lani.
- Mail collateral, amenities, trip materials, etc., as requested
- Minimum one year of experience in a hotel environment (ideally in Sales, Reservation, Conference Service, or Front Office)
- Bachelor's Degree and/or Hotel Management Degree preferred
- Possess excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Windows
- Typing speed of 50+ WPM
- Knowledge of Opera Sales & Catering / Opera Sales Force Automation, and Property Manager is an asset.
- Proactive and highly detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple functions and projects while meeting deadlines
- Articulate, self-motivated, energetic, and positive team player
- Confident, well-groomed, pleasant telephone and personal disposition
- Knowledge of Fairmont Orchid and Fairmont Kea Lani heritage, facilities, and programs is a definite asset.
