Requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience in project accounting, construction auditing, project controls, financial management, or contract administration for large capital construction projects.
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • A strong understanding of construction contracts, guaranteed maximum price agreements, change orders, pay applications, procurement processes, and cost controls.
  • Proficiency with Procore, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and project financial management systems.
  • Experience performing financial audits, compliance reviews, invoice validation, and forecasting assessments.
  • The ability to analyze project budgets, commitments, forecasts, and contractor financial documentation.
  • The ability to interact professionally with contractors, executives, project teams, and finance stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Provide independent owner-side financial oversight, validation, reconciliation, and audit support to maintain accurate project budgets, commitments, forecasts, invoicing, and reporting.
  • Oversee project budget setup, reconciliation, corrections, transfers, vendor allocations, commitments, allowances, and contingency tracking.
  • Maintain alignment among approved budgets, contracts, purchase orders, change records, forecasts, invoices, and actual expenditures.
  • Monitor subcontractor and vendor spend and validate projected expenditures and forecast-at-completion.
  • Identify budget gaps, duplicate commitments, unallocated costs, unsupported forecasts, and financial variances.
  • Support development and maintenance of financial models and cash-flow forecasts.
  • Review invoices and pay applications for contractual compliance, mathematical accuracy, approved progress, retainage, stored materials, insurance, lien documentation, and supporting records.
  • Coordinate field validation of installed work, delivered materials, and claimed work.
  • Oversee invoice routing, approval status, payment processing, and resolution of invoice issues.
  • Conduct periodic audits of contracts, commitments, changes, allowances, buyout, invoices, and project financial records.
  • Maintain clear audit trails and support internal, external, and project-specific audits.
  • Prepare regular cost reports, variance analyses, commitment reports, cash-flow forecasts, and executive financial summaries.
  • Facilitate cost review meetings with cost consultants, contractors, procurement teams, and project management.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support project decisions and cost control.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting consistency, data quality, and software utilization.
  • Support project financial closeout, final reconciliation, release of retainage, and final account settlement.
