Requirements
  • The position requires the ability to lift objects and climb ladders.
  • The position requires moderate physical effort.
Responsibilities
  • Understand how soiling occurs, distinguish between soluble and insoluble soils, and follow the involved cleaning processes.
  • Maintain a clean, stocked, and organized cleaning cart and Environmental Services closet according to department policy.
  • Use Environmental Services chemicals appropriately and follow their dilution rates.
  • Perform dust mopping and wet or microfiber mopping on hard-surface floors.
  • Vacuum carpeted areas using an upright vacuum cleaner.
  • Handle and dispose of all waste streams, including regulated hospital waste.
  • Clean and handle intravenous pumps, including IV or Sigma Smart Pumps.
  • Clean inpatient rooms daily.
  • Implement A.I.D.E.T. (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You) and Greet and Feet techniques and understand their impact on patient surveys.
  • Perform discharge and transfer cleaning in inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Follow isolation cleaning procedures using appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Clean offices, conference rooms, and furniture, including furniture arrangement.
  • Perform cleaning procedures for laboratory settings.
  • Clean public and non-public restrooms and locker rooms routinely.
  • Conduct between-case and terminal cleaning in special procedure areas.
  • Clean the pharmacy clean (IV) room.
  • Report facility repair issues, such as wall patching, ceiling tiles, and leaks, to leadership and submit work orders as needed.
  • Maintain cleaning carts, vacuums, pagers, and other equipment according to department guidelines.
  • Perform general maintenance of hard and soft flooring.
  • Follow safety procedures for chemical and equipment use and report discrepancies.
  • Report injuries to leadership and submit appropriate injury reports.
  • Complete all duties proficiently within designated time frames.
  • Participate in required training and meetings and complete annual learning modules on time.
  • Follow departmental policies and procedures and monitor communication boards.
  • Perform other related work as required or requested.
Desired Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
