Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree and three years of experience in fundraising or related field OR an equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training.
Responsibilities
  • Develops and executes fundraising strategies in collaboration with leadership, adjusting approaches to meet program goals.
  • Manages a portfolio of donors and prospects, including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities.
  • Researches donor prospects and prepares proposals, briefing materials, and donor communications.
  • Maintains a discrete fundraising portfolio, which includes development and implementation of fundraising strategies on behalf of specific Carter Center programs and special projects.
  • Solicits gifts in support of the unit, including drafting and editing donor (governments, foundations, corporations, individuals) correspondence and proposals in support of Health Programs.
  • Oversees grants management and reporting for portfolio projects, coordinating and editing donor reports with Health Programs staff to ensure timely submission.
  • Supports donor recognition through communications, media coverage, and events, in collaboration with the Communications Department.
  • Maintains accurate donor records and leverages data for strategy and decision-making.
  • Identifies opportunities for donor meetings, events, and major gift pipeline development.
  • Ensures compliance with donor branding requirements and may manage gift processing.
  • Supervises interns, manages budgets, and represents the Center at donor meetings and events.
  • Travels to meet with donors as needed.
  • May manage a program/event budget.
  • Supervises interns on a rotating basis with other colleagues.
  • Maintains professional growth by participating in educational programs and activities to improve knowledge of fundraising trends and skills in support of the Programs Development Department.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • This position requires significant writing experience, e.g., writing proposals, narrative reports to donors, fund-raising publications, newsletters, general external and internal correspondence, etc.
  • A Master’s degree in English, Writing, or a similar degree is desirable.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, PDF, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint) and Raiser’s Edge experience is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) are highly preferred.
  • Experience in managing and implementing successful fundraising/development operations, including data management, events management, and office administration is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in fundraising and grants management for international programs is desired, as is international development program experience.
