The Assistant Social Media Planner will assist in the day-to-day stewarding of media activity for assigned account(s) and has responsibility for updating client documents, the development of social media plans and demonstrating how media investments deliver on business goals of client(s) based on key performance metrics. The Assistant Social Media Planner will report to the Social Media Planner/Director and works closely with them and other internal departments in the implementation of the media plans. This person will be responsible for knowing the procedures and processes of running day-to-day activity.
This is an entry-level position and relevant employment (internships or prior agency experience) and/or academic courses related to marketing/media planning are preferred. Will work closely with Media Planners and Associate Media Director, in addition to interaction with Account, Trafficking, Production, Owned Social and Creative teams and outside media partners. *This is not a Production role*
Responsibilities:
- Assist the social media team in the development, implementation and maintenance of media objectives/strategies and plans utilizing research tools and historical data
- Perform ongoing stewardship of media plans and client documents
- Manage own daily duties, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all projects
- Keep abreast of new media opportunities and developments and share information with planning group
- Prepare and maintain heavy data documents including plan budgets & flowcharts
- Effectively coordinate with internal and external client partner teams
- Assist the team with Point of Views (POV’s) and ad hoc projects
- Assist the team with campaign management and monitoring media buys, including social media optimizations & reporting
- Schedule, coordinate, and facilitate meetings with internal teams and media partners
- Attend internal meetings/statuses to stay up to date on campaign(s) progress
- Meet with sales representatives to analyze value and applicability of media vehicles for client media plan
- Work with calculations and other quantitative data
- Input media schedules into system
- Monthly reconciliation and processing with accounts payable
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Ability to perform basic math calculations + a working comprehension of required media math
- Ability to apply critical thinking and analysis in business writing
- Strong communication skills; written, verbal and presentation
- Strong MS Office skills, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Strong interpersonal skills, effective team player
- Attention to detail; demonstrates a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to learn quickly, including various types of technology programs that support this role
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet internal and client deadlines
- Ability to multi-task and take direction from various sources
