Requirements
  • 10+ years of work experience in product design or a related field
  • A bachelor's or master’s degree in design, computer science, human-computer interaction, or related field
  • 6+ years of leadership experience with direct reports under your guidance and leadership, including hiring and developing senior managers and individual contributors
  • 10+ years of experience working collaboratively with product, engineering, design, content, and user research teams
  • Senior people management, team development, recruiting, and org building experience
  • Experience growing a strategic design practice within design teams
  • Visual and interaction experience in software design
  • Able to effectively communicate design solutions to all audiences, inclusive of executive leadership and the C-suite
  • Able to deeply understand business goals and outcomes by leveraging the use of data analytics, user testing, and research to inform and validate design decisions and focus on constant improvement
  • Organizational and analytical experience
Responsibilities
  • Build and manage multiple product design teams across a broad range of surface areas including administration and authoring
  • Own a small but strategic set of IC projects which will keep your leadership close to the craft and rooted in the needs of the customer
  • Collaborate closely with product management, engineering, and leadership to shape the future of the Databricks platform
  • Shape and influence the product roadmap by building partnerships with other leaders, informing your decisions with data, and relying on your skillset as a designer to prototype your ideas and communicate visually
  • Partner closely with a world-class (and global) team of product managers, engineers, content designers, user experience researchers, data scientists, and product growth analysts to deliver high-quality experiences for people across markets, platforms, and product surfaces
  • Oversee multiple projects and scale design resources accordingly, ensuring deadlines are met, your org is effective, and team members are set up for success by setting clear and measurable goals
  • Develop design talent and build a thriving culture where designers grow in their careers and feel a strong sense of inclusion and belonging
  • Design and scale the organization and equip the team to achieve their goals
  • Foster a strong, collaborative design practice
