Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented System Administrator - Hardware to join our team! One must be adept at developing solutions and discovery of performance improvement opportunities while managing rack mounted servers, storage management, NAS, etc. If you enjoy debugging and redesign work, we have a great opportunity for you!

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Expertise in working with hardware in data center environments, including an emphasis on power consumption, rack mounted servers, cooling solutions, storage management and hot swaps.
• Troubleshoot hardware/software interface and interoperability problems.
• Conduct functional and connectivity testing to ensure continuing operability.
• Performance management of virtualized solutions on established hardware.
• In depth integration of COTS/GOTS/FOSS applications into designated frameworks
• Develop and document systems administration standard operating procedures.
• Maintain baseline system security according to organizational policies.
• Manage accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment.
• Plan, execute, and verify data redundancy and system recovery procedures.
• Install, update, and troubleshoot systems and servers.
• Comply with organization systems administration standard operating procedures.
• Implement and enforce local network usage policies and procedures.
• Manage system and server resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability.
• Monitor and maintain system and server configurations.
• Perform repairs on faulty system and server hardware.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline and 5+ years of experience as a System Administrator
• Experience with C++. Java, Python, Java and/or JavaScript
• Windows and Linux patching, hot swaps, storage management
• Virtualization working with VMware / OpenStack / OpenShift
• Networking Switch- VLAN setup and VMware virtual NIC config for isolation
• Hardware and Operating System troubleshooting
• STIG hardening recommendations
• Understanding of project design within the scope of security (RMF) requirements
• Active DoD IAT Level II certification (e.g. CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP)
• Ability to demonstrate cyber/IT related experience with attention to detail, customer service, oral and written communication, and problem solving.

What Desired Skills You’ll Bring:

• Data center operations
• AWS Cloud or Azure Cloud experience and cloud resource administration
• Scripting experience for automation – Bash, Python, PowerShell
• Extensive virtualization management, architectural understanding and performance behaviors
• Kubernetes administration, installation, maintenance and tuning
• Linux and Windows System Administration experience.
• Experience containerizing existing software and troubleshooting containers from external sources. Security first focus on rootless deployments – Docker, PodMan, Docker Compose, Buildah.
• USSF FORGE MDPAF development and/or architecture experience

Salary Range:
