Orbital Materials creates AI-powered materials engineering tools for industrial use, starting with data centers. Its platform speeds discovery, synthesis, and testing, with LINUS designing novel structures and Orb simulating them at quantum-level speed and accuracy. This design-before-experiment approach shortens development from years to months and enables bespoke materials for specific applications, supported by partnerships with AWS, NVIDIA, and Civo. The goal is to decarbonize data centers through efficient cooling, carbon capture, and water-saving materials, with plans to expand to other industrial sectors.

What believers are saying

  • AWS and NVIDIA partnerships accelerate pilots and provide GPU infrastructure access.
  • NVentures and Toyota Ventures investments open AI accelerator and manufacturing markets.
  • Founders' DeepMind, serial exits, and govtech expertise enable enterprise sales success.

What critics are saying

  • Google DeepMind's superior models erode LINUS technical moat within 6-12 months.
  • Microsoft MatterGen captures cooling contracts ahead of Orbital in 12-18 months.
  • Climeworks undercuts Orbital's CO₂ sorbents on cost, blocking AWS pilots in 12-24 months.

What makes Orbital Materials unique

  • Orbital's LINUS generative AI designs novel materials and synthesis pathways simultaneously.
  • Orb model outperforms Google and Microsoft models in quantum simulation accuracy and speed.
  • Dual-use chiller ejects data center heat while capturing CO₂ and water simultaneously.

Fly Ventures Closes €80M Fund Iii To Support Deeptech Founders In Europe

Fly Ventures has closed its €80 million Fund III. It follows its €53 million Fund II and €35 million Fund I. The Firm addresses a critical gap in the European funding landscape for deep tech founders. “If you are a deeply technical founder or working on a hard technical problem in Europe, your funding options at the inception stage mostly suck,” stated Gabriel Matuschka. Founders often find it frustrating to simplify their pitches for investors who apply generic SaaS logic to everything. This approach can be harmful, especially in the early stages of deep tech development

Aws Ceo: Companies Zero In On Most Valuable Ai Applications

Two years into the generative artificial intelligence (AI) boom, CEOs and chief information officers are looking to focus on the use cases that deliver the best return on investment, Amazon Web Services (AWS) CEO Matt Garman told The Wall Street Journal (WSJ). Garman said that “almost every” one of these executives has done at least 100 proofs of concept and now aims to focus on five or fewer that are most valuable, according to an interview posted Monday (Dec. 2) by the WSJ. On Tuesday (Dec. 3), Garman will deliver a keynote address at the annual AWS re:Invent conference and will share “real, needle-moving changes” among the company’s offerings in AI and computing, he said, per the interview
