Requirements
  • Completion of some high school.
  • Up to 3 months of related experience, or an acceptable alternative combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to support The Salvation Army’s mission and purpose as they relate to the position.
  • Ability to comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and the organization’s health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to handle Salvation Army property and assets responsibly.
  • Good oral communication skills.
  • Good organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team.
  • Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, perform repetitive lifting, and lift up to 30 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Provide courteous and efficient service to customers and donors, address inquiries in person and by phone, and promote sales through product knowledge and upselling techniques.
  • Replenish stock, assist with inventory control, and prepare unsold items for recycling when appropriate.
  • Support store presentation through visual merchandising, display setup, and upkeep of a clean and organized sales floor.
  • Follow established opening, closing, and security procedures.
  • Process sales transactions using cash, debit, and credit while following policies on refunds, voids, and item holds.
  • Receive and sort donations and ensure proper handling, pricing, and storage according to quality and safety standards.
  • Represent The Salvation Army respectfully and professionally in alignment with its mission and values.
  • Exercise sound judgment in the use of organizational and personal resources and handle stock safely.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
