Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 – 12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 – 10 years of prior relevant experience. Must have 4+ years of Technical Writer/Editor experience. Specific experience, education and training may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • In-depth knowledge of technical publishing standards and familiarity with style guides.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, technical staff, and project managers.
  • Proven organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and Adobe Pro.
  • Strong formatting proficiency in MS Word styles (e.g., tables, headers, footers).
  • Experience working directly with engineers and other technical SMEs.
  • Strong formatting skills with the ability to develop and implement style guides and templates.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Must possess an active DoD Secret with eligibility for a Top Secret at time of consideration.
Responsibilities
  • Research, design, write, and review a wide range of technical documentation that will include system operator guides, help guides, user manuals, and training guides, technical manuals, design specification documents, reference manuals, installation guides, and data sheets that may be required to assist with the design, integration, testing, and fielding of the system.
  • Develop documentation (SOPs, TTPs, etc.) per established templates and process and draft technical documentation templates.
  • Describe complex and technical topics in a clear, concise, and accurately manner to facilitate repeatable communication.
  • Lead peer reviews of documentation as required.
  • Edit existing documentation as needed.
  • Interact with both professional and DoD personnel with ability to take and implement direction; work with the technical teams to assist in document preparation.
  • Writing, editing, and proofreading complex technical documentation.
  • Evaluating and editing content to determine appropriate syntax, style, grammatical usage and tone for effective communication delivery and reception that aligns with company vision and business objective.
  • Working independently on large, moderately complex projects/assignments.
  • Assisting other professionals with editing tasks and assignments.
  • Communicating with colleagues across multiple areas (project managers, subject matter experts, or other professional resources).
Desired Qualifications
  • List certifications and preferred technologies in use at DTRA
  • Solid knowledge of SharePoint Online layout and ability to design new content libraries.
