Requirements
  • An associate degree or higher, 48 college units, or passage of the Instructional Aide Exam is required.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check and TB clearance is required.
  • Ability to work during after-school hours and commit through the academic school year, from the hire date through mid-June.
  • At least one year of experience working with K–12 youth in educational, enrichment, recreational, or community-based settings is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently supervise and engage groups of up to 22 students.
  • Experience planning and facilitating academic, enrichment, recreation, or youth development activities.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with youth from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Ability to complete Mandated Reporter certification and other required trainings.
  • Basic proficiency with email, Google Drive, and other program management platforms.
  • Ability to stand, sit, kneel, and move throughout the program space for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to actively supervise and accompany students during indoor and outdoor activities.
  • Ability to respond quickly and appropriately in emergency situations.
Responsibilities
  • Cultivate a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment where all youth feel a sense of belonging and receive support.
  • Build strong relationships with students and provide proactive support for youth experiencing challenges.
  • Model and coach restorative, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive practices.
  • Address behavioral concerns, conflicts, and safety incidents effectively and professionally.
  • Build positive partnerships with families, school staff, and community partners.
  • Lead the planning and implementation of high-quality academic, enrichment, and youth development programming.
  • Use program quality, attendance, and engagement data to improve student outcomes.
  • Support Continuous Quality Improvement processes and site-level quality goals.
  • Coach and support Program Instructors in instructional practices, youth engagement, and classroom management.
  • Participate in and facilitate staff training, meetings, and professional development.
  • Foster an equitable, inclusive, and culturally responsive environment for all participants.
  • Collaborate with staff, school personnel, families, and community partners.
  • Promote student voice, leadership, and meaningful participation.
  • Support team problem-solving and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
  • Ensure program operations align with BACR policies, grant requirements, and safety expectations.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, documentation, and program records.
  • Support daily site operations and communicate concerns proactively.
  • Maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, and ethical conduct.
  • Create engaging learning experiences that support academic, social-emotional, and leadership development.
  • Foster a positive program culture through meaningful relationships and student-centered practices.
  • Champion youth leadership, voice, and ownership of learning.
  • Recognize and celebrate student growth, effort, and accomplishments.
  • Contribute positively to team culture through collaboration, enthusiasm, and shared success.
Desired Qualifications
  • An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, Recreation, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, or supporting staff in youth-serving environments.
  • Experience leading groups, projects, events, or program initiatives.
  • Bilingual skills in English and Spanish, English and Chinese, or other languages.
