Requirements
  • A high school education or equivalent is required.
  • A valid Arizona Caregiver Certification is required.
  • The employee must hold a Fingerprint Clearance Card, CPR/First Aid certification, and Food Handler certification.
  • The employee must be able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Administer residents’ medications as ordered by the attending physician and under the direction of nursing leadership, in accordance with nursing standards, facility procedures, and state requirements.
  • Follow facility policies and procedures governing medication administration.
  • Note and report medication-administration errors.
  • Assist with developing and implementing programs to identify, analyze, and prevent medication errors.
  • Complete and submit required forms, charts, reports, and other administrative documentation.
  • Maintain working relationships with nursing-department personnel, attending physicians, the Medical Director, and pharmacists.
  • Report resident complaints or grievances to the Director of Nursing Services.
  • Participate in facility surveys and inspections conducted by authorized government agencies when requested.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance programs, the Pharmaceutical Services Committee, and other programs affecting medication administration and accuracy.
  • Prepare, administer, and document commonly used oral and topical medications accurately and safely.
  • Verify that medications brought by newly admitted residents are examined and identified by the attending physician, facility pharmacy, or pharmacist.
  • Follow procedures for destroying medications and complete the required documentation under pharmacist or nursing direction.
  • Follow medication-labeling policies and ensure that administered medications are properly labeled.
  • Follow procedures for charting medications.
  • Assist with documenting and removing medications discontinued by the attending physician.
  • Follow procedures for drug-receipt errors, including notifying the delivery source and the Director of Nursing Services.
  • Complete written drug-receipt error reports signed by an observer or witness and the employee.
  • Follow procedures for holding medications for transferred residents or when medications are discontinued.
  • Observe and verify that residents ingest or apply medications as directed, and document refusals and the reasons for them.
  • Promptly notify the Charge Nurse, Nurse Supervisor, or Director of Nursing Services of medication errors or resident reactions.
  • Verify resident identity before administering medication treatments.
  • Measure, record, and report residents’ vital signs accurately.
  • Follow procedures allowing residents to self-administer medications.
  • Use common medical abbreviations, symbols, and terms related to medication administration.
  • Attend continuing-education programs to remain current in the profession and maintain certification.
  • Perform assigned tasks according to facility policies, procedures, supervisor instructions, work assignments, and schedules.
  • Cooperate with interdepartmental and facility personnel to maintain adequate nursing services.
  • Use office equipment including copiers, scanners, fax machines, telephones, and calculators.

PACS Group has appointed Carey P. Hendrickson as chief financial officer, effective 27 April 2026. Hendrickson brings nearly four decades of financial leadership across healthcare, senior living and media sectors. Most recently, Hendrickson served as CFO of U.S. Physical Therapy, overseeing 779 outpatient clinics across 44 states. He previously held CFO roles at Capital Senior Living Corporation, managing 128 communities across 23 states, and Belo Corp. He succeeds Mark Hancock, PACS's co-founder and executive vice chairman, who will retire by 30 June 2026 whilst remaining on the board as vice chairman. PACS Group has announced that co-founder and chief financial officer Mark Hancock will retire on 30 June 2026. He will continue serving on the company's board of directors as vice chairman. Hancock co-founded PACS in 2013 with Jason Murray, starting with two post-acute care facilities in San Diego. Dr Conway currently serves as CEO of Optum, UnitedHealth Group's health services division with revenues exceeding $200 billion.
