Digital Marketing
How you’ll CREATE:
The digital department is essentially responsible for anything happening online with our fantastic roster of Universal Music Group Nashville artists! This is primarily focused on the social media space (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, etc.) but can also be applied to other general online activations like maintaining websites, facilitating livestreams, creating filters, running advertising, coordinating influencer campaigns and frequently utilizing email and text marketing as well. We work in tandem with the other departments ensuring that short form content gets captured that can be utilized across social media with the ultimate goal of expanding our artists’ music and reach across social media platforms.
Brainstorming
This is a frequent task on our digital team because we like to be on the cutting edge of what’s next! Interns will brainstorm to keep us up to date on digital updates (Ex: sharing new apps or trending websites), music industry news (EX: how artists and fans are engaging on tour or what new influencer agencies are out there) and general research on any cool observations from their own social media that spark inspiration. Additionally, we would love for our new interns to help come up with new ideas and activations we can implement across various artist rosters and for Universal Music Group Nashville as a whole – whether that’s focusing on a specific artist or Nashville as a whole.
Analytics
The interns will help us compile our weekly digital report that gets circulated to the entire Universal Music Group Nashville company. This requires not only an analytical mind to compile the data, but also a research aspect where it will be instrumental for the interns to dig into each artists’ socials to try and gain observations about why their social followings were up or down for the week. Perhaps, for example, one of our artists just kicked off a new tour or had a TV appearance causing a spike in new followers… or maybe we sent out one too many eblasts or texts in a week and we saw a few more unsubscribes than we’d like. This is an important document for our team so will require a thorough investigator.
Creativity
This could only apply if an intern is already familiar or willing to learn more about editing apps (like Canva for example) and things like Photoshop or Premiere – but would love for our summer interns to help create and capture content for our artists if / when possible. This could be creating a graphic for a silly national holiday like “National Margarita Day” (for example), cutting down GIFs from music videos to make Instagram Story stickers or getting raw content and editing them together into a piece we can use on an artists’ social media.
