Requirements
  • A high school diploma or General Educational Development certificate is required.
  • At least one year of progressively responsible, directly related work experience is required.
  • Knowledge of medical office procedures, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and basic arithmetic is required.
  • Proficiency operating a computer, fax machine, and copy machine is required.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions is required.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English clearly is required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and doctors is required.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, is required.
  • Knowledge of electronic medical records is required.
  • Required immunizations include measles, mumps, varicella, and annual influenza immunizations, subject to applicable exemptions.
Responsibilities
  • Answer telephones, triage calls, take messages, and provide information.
  • Provide support services to patients and medical staff, including scheduling appointments and admissions as required.
  • Prepare patient charts and office documents, and scan and sort documents into the electronic health record.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Maintain files and assist in updating office systems.
  • Inventory office supplies and assist with the care and maintenance of office equipment.
  • Book, coordinate, and reschedule patient appointments, and relay necessary messages to staff and doctors.
  • Answer questions regarding patient appointments, prescriptions, and testing.
  • Greet and register patients, verify necessary information, and update patient records.
  • Assemble patients' paperwork and forms for visits.
  • Request referrals and authorizations as needed when scheduling specialists.
  • Log payments, balance receipts, and ensure reports are properly produced.
  • Oversee the reception area, coordinate patient movement, and report problems or irregularities.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Adhere to company and practice-leader best practices.
  • Work in multiple locations as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Completion of business school or related training, including computer courses.
  • Bilingual Spanish language ability.
  • Experience with and proficiency in electronic medical records; Epic software experience is a plus.
