Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Engineering degree from a recognized university in Instrumentation and Controls, Electronics, or Chemical.
  • At least 1 year of broad experience supporting online process analyzers in the oil and gas, refining, or petrochemical industry.
  • Knowledge of measurement principles and infrastructure elements for common process analyzers.
  • Knowledge and experience with oil and gas, petrochemical, or refining processes and their associated analyzer applications.
  • At least 1 year of experience with analytical chemistry techniques including gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, infrared and ultraviolet spectroscopy, physical property analyzers, and gas detectors.
  • Knowledge and experience with analyzer communication and transmission protocols and networking for interfaces to Distributed Control Systems.
  • Familiarity with field and online analyzer equipment from vendors such as Siemens, YokOGAWA, ABB, and Emerson.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, country-specific regulations, and local codes.
  • Understanding of general analyzer maintenance work processes, including planning, scheduling, preventive maintenance, and performance checks.
  • Understanding of equipment sparing, redundancy, reliability, availability, maintainability, and maintenance cost in support of operations excellence and capital efficiency.
  • Understanding of product quality measurement and Quality Assurance System design and requirements.
  • Experience preparing specifications and handling the selection and application of analyzers, sample handling systems, and analyzer shelters.
  • A work permit to work in India is required.
  • Applicants must not have worked full-time or part-time during their Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology program.
  • Applicants must have pursued a Bachelor of Technology through a regular full-time program.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage equipment strategies in accordance with site safety and reliability practices.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to support miscellaneous asset operations.
  • Provide analyzer expertise for field and online analyzer applications, physical property analyzers, and combustible and toxic gas detectors to meet safety, environmental, regulatory, and process control requirements.
  • Monitor process analyzer performance data and apply statistical tools to assess analyzer performance.
  • Drive improvements in analyzer performance and quantify improvements in a performance scorecard.
  • Lead or support incident investigations and root-cause failure analyses, identify causes of failure, and provide recommendations for risk-based work selection.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve bad actors.
  • Monitor industry standards developments and identify and support opportunities to improve site analyzer performance.
  • Deploy cost-effective new technologies.
  • Provide design and engineering management support for greenfield and brownfield projects.
  • Develop project design specifications for analyzer systems.
  • Perform analyzer engineering calculations, including fast-loop lag time, probe wake frequency, ventilation requirements, and phase envelopes.
  • Support cost estimation for analyzers and analyzer systems.
  • Provide engineering surveillance on contractor and vendor design deliverables.
  • Participate in risk assessments, HAZOP, and HAZID.
  • Develop inspection and test plans and support factory acceptance tests and site acceptance tests for new analyzer systems.
  • Advise and assist with analyzer testing, commissioning, and start-up.
  • Apply company controls and cybersecurity best practices associated with analyzer systems.
  • Design and specify online analyzers, analyzer systems, and process-analyzer shelters for oil and gas, petrochemical, or refining facilities.
  • Assist sites with lifecycle management, including monitoring obsolescence and developing and executing plans.
  • Provide analyzer training to site personnel.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with international projects in multinational companies, wholly owned foreign enterprises, or joint ventures.
  • Knowledge and ability to support multivariate model-based analyzer applications for unique process measurements.
  • Information technology skills with OPC servers, analyzer data networks, and Distributed Control System/Programmable Logic Controller interfaces.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
  • Proficiency in data collection and analysis using common database and software data-analysis tools such as SAP and Excel Analytics.

Trump's oil and gas holdings gained up to $4.4M during Iran war

President Donald Trump's nine largest oil and gas holdings gained between $1.5 million and $4.4 million in the first six months of the Iran war, according to a CNBC analysis of his financial disclosure and market data. The holdings include Chevron, ExxonMobil, and seven other energy companies. CNBC calculated gains using share-price movements from 27 February, the day before hostilities began, through 31 August. Trump's accounts showed at least 23 sell transactions across the nine stocks through 29 June. A White House spokesman said Trump plays no role in trading decisions, with all investments managed independently. Ethics watchdogs disputed this, noting Trump still knows his heavy energy investment positions. The nine firms posted combined second-quarter profits of $47.6 billion, triple the prior year's figure. US crude prices rose roughly 36% since the war started.

ExxonMobil may return to Venezuela after Chevron secures $7B deal with improved terms

ExxonMobil drops return on capital metric from results despite $14.5B Q2 earnings

ExxonMobil has stopped highlighting return on capital employed in its earnings reports. The company reported $14.5 billion in second-quarter 2026 earnings but omitted the return metric that appeared alongside financial results two years ago, when management cited a 13% return on capital employed for 2024. The company now emphasises earnings levels and cumulative structural cost savings of $16.3 billion since 2019. Cash capital expenditures ran roughly $7 billion in the second quarter. The Guyana venture recovered its $55 billion investment nearly two years ahead of schedule, with its fifth production vessel on track for start-up by end-2026. Permian volumes reached a record above 1.8 million oil-equivalent barrels daily. Revenue over the past twelve months hit $361 billion, up 9.6% year over year, whilst the trailing operating margin fell to 10.7% from a three-year average of 11.7%.
