JerseySTEM runs hands-on, project-based STEM programs for underrepresented middle school girls in New Jersey. Through partnerships with corporate sponsors, youth organizations, and college volunteers, it delivers experiences like robotics and climate action projects that build critical thinking, teamwork, problem-solving, and self-esteem. Programs are designed and carried out in collaboration with sponsors and partner groups, ensuring access to STEM learning in community settings. JerseySTEM differentiates itself by specifically serving NJ girls at the middle-school level through a grassroots, nonprofit model that links classroom experiences with real-world applications and corporate sponsorships to expand the talent pipeline. Its goal is to reach 2,600 girls by 2026, empowering them with tools and knowledge to pursue STEM futures and contribute to a diverse, inclusive field.

What believers are saying

  • JerseySTEM says it is on target for 2,600 girls by 2026.
  • The 2025 NJ Hall of Fame partnership expands credibility and local reach.
  • Its 2026 sponsorship tiers convert $1,000 into classes, clubs, and workshops efficiently.

What critics are saying

  • All JerseySTEM roles are unpaid; volunteer churn can halt school programs quickly.
  • The organization depends on sponsor renewals and one-year visibility deals, not recurring revenue.
  • If volunteer recruiting weakens, JerseySTEM misses 2,600-girl targets and loses operational continuity.

What makes JerseySTEM unique

  • JerseySTEM targets underrepresented New Jersey middle-school girls with hands-on, project-based STEM curricula.
  • Its volunteer-heavy model leverages 300 pro-bono contributors across curriculum, salesforce, and grants.
  • Corporate sponsorships fund named programs and talent-pipeline access, including Wipro-backed robotics.
