About Our Internship Program:

Throughout your internship, you will have regular events, weekly lunch and learn sessions, and receive customized training from our business units. This is a unique opportunity to gain valuable insights into supporting the needs of Stanley Black & Decker both in the US and abroad. The interns will gain first-hand exposure to Stanley Black & Decker and have the opportunity to build a cross-functional professional network. Interns are expected to adapt to change and demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, creativity, and confidence. Interns must be team-oriented and collaborative.

The Job:

During your internship, you will have the opportunity to support Materials Science Engineering with key activities including:

• Working in accordance to applicable industry standards to prepare proper samples for chemical analysis, hardness testing, metallography, metrology, polymer testing, mechanical testing.
• Assist Materials Engineers in providing technical direction to effectively communicate test results and their applicability to material properties and processing.

• Conduct experiments and perform laboratory tests to evaluate material properties, such as strength, durability, and thermal conductivity.
• Analyze and interpret experimental data using appropriate statistical methods and software tools.

You will have exposure to several areas of the Materials Science Engineering at Stanley Black & Decker. You will work on a wide variety of tasks and projects with a cross-functional team of professionals, including engineering, manufacturing, and product development.

The Person:

The ideal Materials Science Engineering intern candidate will have the following qualifications:

• Be a rising junior or senior with a target graduation date of 2026 or 2027.
• Actively pursuing a degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Maintains strong academic credentials.
• Knowledge of material characterization techniques, such as microscopy, spectroscopy, and mechanical testing.
• Proficiency in data analysis and statistical software tools.
• Prior experience or coursework related to manufacturing processes and tools is a plus.
