Requirements
  • Current California Registered Nurse License, maintained as an active license with the California Board of Nursing.
  • Basic Life Support certification for Health Care Providers.
  • Current California Certification as an HIV Counselor, or the ability to obtain it within 6 months of hire.
  • A minimum of an Associate's Degree in Nursing.
  • A minimum of one year of work in an outpatient sexual health setting.
  • Ability to work comfortably with diverse populations, with sensitivity to issues concerning HIV and all disabilities.
  • Ability to respond efficiently and cordially to requests for service and assistance.
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care at the nurse-led clinic, Magnet at Strut.
  • Provide sexual health care, including assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating clients for sexually transmitted infections and HIV infection.
  • Serve as HIV testing counselors as needed in the clinic.
  • Serve as the primary interface with clients seeking screening for sexually transmitted infections and Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis and non-Occupational Post-Exposure Prophylaxis services.
  • Provide direct clinical services according to Strut's protocols and treatment guidelines, including specimen collection, high-volume phlebotomy, treatment administration, management of Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis and non-Occupational Post-Exposure Prophylaxis care, point-of-care laboratory testing, client counseling, and education.
  • Work with Magnet at Strut staff and other volunteers to ensure quality of care.
  • Provide referrals to outside providers as appropriate.
  • Serve as a clinic leader and assist with coordinating clinic operations, flow, and client care.
  • Complete detailed documentation of reports and clinical services provided.
  • Perform other professional or administrative duties as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Bilingual ability in English and Spanish, Russian, Cantonese, or American Sign Language.
