The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $175,000.00 - $250,000.00 at the time of posting and will be eligible for incentive compensation in accordance with company practices. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.
Tasks and Qualifications:
Global Project Engineering Americas is implementing an aligned and harmonized project engineering execution organization tied to the Americas Amazon Business Unit. This includes all Engineering responsibilities for Enterprise and Point solutions sold to Amazon.
The Project Engineering organization will enable Engineer to Engineer relationship development between Dematic Project Engineering and Amazon Operations Engineering leaders. Delivery teams are structured to maximize successful implementations of similar projects as well as provide a consistent basis for effectively onboarding new engineers.
This also supports our strategy of developing our Amazon Business Unit and our Americas portfolio aspirations to grow with Amazon across additional customer segments including Amazon Transportation Systems, Core Fulfillment, Specialty Fulfillment, and Retrofits, Enhancements and Initiatives (REI mods and upgrades).
This position is responsible to develop our people and create new opportunities for holistic functional leadership by transitioning to a model of Engineer-to-Engineer relationships with our customer. This role is responsible to develop a strong bench of 3-4 direct reports that are able to grow into this position with direct cross-functional and holistic engineering experience including customer engagement.
Accountabilities:
- Deliver system designs that meet customer needs including input to the Joint Development Committee (JDC) process.
- Review and influence pre-sales projects to a state of maximized opportunity for successful execution.
- Achieve project safety, quality, schedule, and budget targets as defined across the Dematic Americas Amazon BU.
- Take ownership, lead cross-functional technical teams, interact with customer executives and drive customer projects to realization.
- When we have execution mistakes or issues, work with cross functional engineering teams to determine root cause either internal or external and review these with all stakeholders to drive internal and external corrective action.
- Escalate and lead cross functional teams (internal/external) to ensure customer project realization as quickly as possible.
- Partner with Product Management and R&D to ensure quality issues are corrected at the Product level (Mechatronics and 4-Step Problem Solving, LEAN concepts, and facilitate resolution to design & performance issues).
- Implement consistency in execution by driving adoption of functional best practices and partnering with the Dematic Engineering community for continuous improvement.
Requirements:
Demonstrated experience of successfully driving coordination and support of project execution teams in fields like:
- Subcontractor management and manpower planning
- Project planning and document control
- Material delivery/scheduling/management
- Contract Management and associated correspondence with customers
- Risk mapping & anticipated alert management
Demonstrated experience of successfully leading and deploying turnaround, transformation and standardization programs.
- Past successes driving and managing change within a complex international, matrix organization.
- Experience with International Business.
- Outstanding team building skills with the ability to improve interaction and efficiency as well as the ability to break down barriers/silos.
- Experience in analysis of performance metrics and formulation of effective improvement plans. Lean methodology experience is an asset.
- Experience with manpower planning, budgeting/forecasting, project planning, document control, materials management, contract management and lean/continuous improvement methodologies, risk mapping.
- Technical experience and knowledge of the material handling industry, supply chain or material handling solutions is a plus.
- Willingness to travel approximately 30%.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in technology, engineering, or related field; Master’s degree in Business Administration or Engineering is a plus.
