Job Description:
This position will be responsible to lead catering operations. This position may also be responsible for ordering and rotating supplies, and for planning, organizing, and facilitating catering functions and/or leading a satellite café location. Supports facility efforts to improve the patient and guest experience.
This position is responsible for leading the Culinary Services team when other leadership is not on-site within the Culinary Services department in the hospital while fulfilling the role of the Nutrition Care Associate. Resolves immediate issues such as service recovery, coaching/redirecting caregivers, and rearranging staffing. Escalates to manager as appropriate.
Work Schedule
- Full Time, 40 hours per week
- Primarily Monday-Friday 6:00am-2pm
- Required: Flexibility in adjusting shift times to support business needs
Job Essentials
- Leads and maintains workflow of assigned area and ensures tasks are completed.
- Resolves immediate issues such as service recovery, coaching/redirecting caregivers, and rearranging staffing. Escalates to manager as appropriate.

- Participates in orienting, training, scheduling, coaching, and leading employees as appropriate.
- Assists in keeping storage areas clean and organized to ensure all Joint Commission and Health Department guidelines are followed.
- Ensures that department standards for quality, sanitation, and safety are met.
- Communicates issues with the appropriate members of management.
- Ensures a quality Nutrition Services operation, including production, customer service, and training.
- Ensures caregiver competency.
- Responsible to implement, under the direction of the Nutrition Services Manager, best practice, system-level initiatives.
- Participate in and aligns services with all department guidelines including food safety, zero harm, goals, continuous improvement and more agencies and hospital.
- May lead patient areas and have competency in modified diets and patient meal standard works.
- May open, balance and reconcile POS register drawers.
- May coordinate catering for scheduled events and conferences and ensures they are serviced and function properly.
- May help coordinate meals to appropriate locations by designated times.
- May be responsible for monitoring supply orders, accounts payable, verifying charges, and supply/equipment needs.
- Other duties as assigned by the Nutrition Services Manager.
Minimum Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to lead in a positive and professional manner.
- Demonstrated self-motivation with the ability to work without direct supervision.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency.
- Demonstrated proven interpersonal and organization skills.
- Current food handlers permit as required by county.
- Food Handler Permit (as required by State) or ServSafe certification is required by first day of work. ServSafe certification obtained within 90 days of hire date if not current.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of experience in a hospitality or healthcare setting.
- Two years of experience with hospitality catering or as a concierge.
- Associate degree in business or hospitality management or a culinary arts program. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.

- Carry, push/pull and walk while transporting food, supplies and service equipment.
- Climb, squat, kneel and lift to clean and reach and retrieve food and supplies
- Tolerate extremes in temperature such as performing work in a cook station or in a refrigerator.
- Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.
- May require lifting and transporting objects and office supplies, bending, kneeling and reaching.
