As a Senior Scientist-Chemistry, you will provide process and materials expertise to the Family Care Materials Development team.  You will lead development/design of tissue products and processes, with emphasis on optimizing and innovating in the areas of wet end chemistry, additives, and coatings/creping.  Additionally, you will collaborate broadly across R&E, Product Supply, Procurement, Manufacturing, and with External Vendors to drive near and long-term business directives.

In this role, you will:

• Develop and lead with technical and scientific expertise in tissue chemistry and processes.

• Conceive, develop, validate, and share ideas leading to new or improved products, processes, materials, or systems aligned with business unit objectives.  A passion and willingness to innovate and improve products through chemistry and chemistry processes is highly desired.

• Work individually and collaboratively with a cross-functional team that includes R&E, Supply Chain, Mill Operations, Procurement, and external material suppliers. 

• Work with vendors to maintain and improve relationships ensuring win-win propositions for all companies.

• Coach and mentor team members to increase technical understanding and ability to execute programs to improve business results.

• Implement appropriate internal controls and standards to ensure compliance with applicable policies, laws, and regulations.

• Drive a culture of protected and documented innovation to protect and defend K-C proprietary technology, products, and business processes through appropriate use of patents and trade secrets.

In one of our professional roles, you’ll focus on winning with consumers and the market, while putting safety, mutual respect, and human dignity at the center. To succeed in this role, you will need the following qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in relevant scientific discipline, such as Pulp and Paper, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering.

• 5 years or more of related technical experience in mill, production or staff R&E assignments.

• Track record of research and development success, as well as an understanding of papermaking processes. The focus of this role will be identifying chemistry solutions in support of current optimization efforts and future innovation projects.

• Ability to travel up to 25%

Preferred (desired for the job):

• Preferred 10 years or more of relevant experience.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently or to lead small teams to complete assignments and related activities in an acceptable manner. 

• Strong analytical skills and ability to mine technical data to provide clear direction as to opportunity areas is critical.

• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and coach less-experienced scientists.

• Effective communication skills with the ability to discuss technical issues to mill or staff positions.

Salary Range: $105,000 – $130,000 USD

At Kimberly-Clark, pay is just one aspect of our total rewards package, which also includes a variety of benefits and opportunities to achieve, thrive and grow. Along with base pay, this position offers eligibility for a target bonus and a comprehensive benefits suite, including our 401(k) and Profit-Sharing plan. The anticipated base pay range for this role is provided above for a fully qualified hire. Actual pay will depend on several factors, such as location, role, skills, performance, and experience. Please note that the stated pay range applies to US locations only.

Kimberly-Clark will support in-country relocation for the chosen candidate for the role.  The benefits provided will be per the terms of Kimberly-Clark’s applicable mobility policies. The benefits/policy provided will be decided at Kimberly-Clark’s sole discretion.
