Requirements
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years old.
  • A Bachelor's Degree or three years of experience with youth in residential, shelter, or crisis programs is required.
  • Applicants must pass the Department of Human Services background check and maintain qualified status.
  • Applicants must successfully meet the company's physical job demands.
  • Applicants using their own vehicle for company business must have a current valid driver's license and insurance required by state law.
  • Applicants must successfully complete Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training within the first two months of employment with a passing score of at least 70%.
  • Applicants must successfully complete the Medication Administration class with a score of at least 80% and regularly pass medications using the correct procedure without error.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Willingness to work a combination of day hours from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and evening hours from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., including every other weekend, is required.
  • Employees must complete all mandatory training determined by MORA or 245D regulations.
Responsibilities
  • Engage with clients in daily activities and manage behavior according to each client's individual plan and needs.
  • Approach all client and coworker interactions from a trauma-informed care perspective.
  • Maintain open communication with coworkers and coach and mentor other staff on shift.
  • Attend team and client meetings.
  • Ensure client safety by implementing behavior interventions described in each client's therapeutic support plan.
  • Take clients into the community and demonstrate safe and appropriate social skills.
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries with clients at all times.
  • Ensure a clean and safe home by following all policies and procedures on shift.
  • Work with clients' families, guardians, workers, and other identified supports to encourage communication and healthy relationships.
  • Support clients in identifying triggers and implementing coping strategies that help them stabilize and transition to a long-term living option.
  • Lead and teach dialectical behavior therapy groups for youth on shift.
  • Participate in recreation activities, games, and events at the home.
  • Complete required documentation on shift.
  • Assist with daily housekeeping and household maintenance.
  • Implement programs in accordance with the Coordinated Service and Support Plan, Coordinated Service and Support Plan Addendum, and Individual Abuse Prevention Plan.
  • Provide person-centered services through practice, action, and language.
  • Administer and document prescribed medications, treatments, diets, and examinations as directed by the applicable service plans.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and MORA policies and procedures.
  • Prepare meals according to the planned menu and complete weekly food ordering as needed or scheduled.
  • Read and follow company policies and procedures.
  • Check MORA email each shift and use SharePoint and Microsoft Teams as necessary to complete documentation and remain current on MORA and client information.
  • Administer medications according to medication administration guidelines.
  • Attend Medical Coordinator trainings and drop-in sessions as needed.
  • Manage clients' overall healthcare in conjunction with the Lead Youth Counselor.
  • Oversee house and client documentation and work with the Program Supervisor to maintain it according to MORA expectations and licensing standards.
  • Ensure fire and weather drills are completed at the frequency determined by licensing requirements, unless appropriately delegated.
  • Cross-train at multiple crisis programs to support youth and staff-ratio needs.
  • Collaborate with the team to complete other assigned or needed duties.
