Requirements
  • Must be currently pursuing a Bachelors, Masters or PhD at an accredited university
  • Actively pursuing a degree or one closely related in Mechanical, Chemical, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry or closely related industry
  • Fundamental knowledge of electrochemistry and testing methods (CV, EIS, PITT, GITT)
  • Previous history of internships, co-ops work in manufacturing environment preferred
  • Hands on experience in at least 3 of the characterization techniques including SEM/EDS, XPS, XRD, XRF, GC-MS, TGA/DSC, CT, optical microscope
  • Experience in cell teardown, operating glove box and coin cell/single-layer pouch cell assembly
  • Experience with Python, JMP, Databases (SQL, NoSQL)
  • Working internship experience in industry or national labs on battery cell R&D preferred
Responsibilities
  • Conduct Lithium-ion test cell tear down, post-mortem analysis and physical inspection
  • Work and learn electrochemical methods for cell/material/failure analysis
  • Carry on electrode material and SEI characterization experiments
  • Work on material characterizations to figure out root-cause of cell failures
  • Integrate testing data to Rivian's data platform, perform data visualizations
