This position is funded for 19 months; continuation past 19 months will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding.
This is a/an 83% full-time equivalency (FTE) job with months off. The number of months off will be determined by the position's FTE percentage. The timing of months off will be set to meet the needs of the unit and the essential duties of the position. The salary grade and range listed in the posting is reflective of a 100% Full-time position. POSITION SPECIFICS
Penn State DuBois, Student Affairs is seeking a Mental Health Counselor to work with students with mental health concerns. This is a 10-month position (August-May) on a limited-term contract running through spring 2027.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as first point of contact, complete intakes and provide individual and group counseling to clients according to individualized treatment plans; complete triage and crisis appointments as needed
Assess and provide case management services and attend to any referral clients
Utilize an array of treatment approaches to meet individual or group needs (i.e. cognitive behavioral therapy, relaxation training, and motivational interviewing)
Work within a collaborative team approach as a community mental health center across the University to participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case consultation meetings, and case coordination meetings with clinical or medical staff
Develop, plan, and deliver outreach activities pertaining to wellness initiatives
Coordinate the Certified Peer Educator program, including recruitment, training, and ongoing development of student peer educators; schedule and facilitate workshops; oversee certification processes; and provide mentorship to ensure peer educators effectively support campus wellness initiatives.
Create and maintain accurate clinical records and documentation
Provide appropriate disposition including on and off campus referrals and collaborate with psychiatric and health care providers as indicated
Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to maintain licensure and engage in community and campus outreach
Finally, the clinical social worker/mental health therapist will serve on various university committees which are specific to mental health and behavioral concerns. The committees include but are not limited to the Behavior Threat Management Team, CARE Team and Partnership for Prevention.
This position will be an integral part of the Student Affairs staff working with a multidisciplinary group.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s Degree in Social Work or a related discipline required

3+ years of relevant experience
Required Certifications:
Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker - Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists and Professional Counselors

SALARY & BENEFITS
The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $56,200.00 - $81,500.00.
