Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university is required.
  • A valid credential and at least 3 years of teaching experience in applicable content areas or grade levels are required.
  • A deep understanding of Michigan Standards for applicable content areas, aligned assessments, and curriculum is required.
  • An effective or highly effective rating on the two most recent teacher evaluations is required.
  • A recommendation from the building principal or direct supervisor is required.
  • Demonstrated success impacting student achievement gains is required.
  • Previous experience designing and facilitating adult learning, including professional development, is required.
  • The candidate must commit 10–15 hours per month outside of school for role responsibilities, as well as several additional days.
  • Approval from the school leader to host 15–20 Talent Together Teaching Candidates in the classroom is required.
  • Permission to record Model Teacher labs, occasional lessons, and professional learning for use in Talent Together learning spaces and marketing purposes is required.
Responsibilities
  • In collaboration with the Talent Together Facilitator, design and facilitate up to three model classroom lab days for cohorts of 15–20 in-person participants or up to 50 online participants, demonstrating classroom management, use of high-quality instructional materials, high expectations for student learning, planning cycles, and student work and assessment data analysis during the school day.
  • Incorporate adult learning principles into facilitation by providing participant choice and voice, connecting participants' experiences to modeled concepts, and creating opportunities for authentic practice.
  • Host live, recorded, and hybrid model classroom visits demonstrating Michigan Core Teaching Skills and research-based instructional strategies.
  • Create resources for Talent Together participants, including videos and guides.
  • Maintain strong records for federal and state programs and grants.
  • Travel for in-person study days.
  • Support Talent Together Teacher Candidates in small groups or one-to-one sessions for an anticipated 10–15 hours monthly outside school contract hours.
  • Participate in the Model Teacher onboarding meeting in August.
