Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field is required.
  • At least eight years of experience in supply chain, materials management, procurement, or program management is required, preferably in aerospace or hardware-focused environments.
  • Proven success managing complex Bills of Material and hardware procurement in schedule-driven space production, development, or engineering environments is required.
  • Strong understanding of space-industry material challenges, including long-lead hardware, specialized manufacturing processes, ITAR/EAR compliance, and space-rated quality requirements is required.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams and collaborate effectively in a small, high-growth organization is required.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills, including budgeting, cost modeling, and program financial reporting, are required.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary Supply Chain interface for assigned programs, enabling decision-making on long-lead procurement, supplier readiness, and material risk mitigation.
  • Develop, own, and execute integrated material strategies for spacecraft subsystems, launch components, avionics, propulsion hardware, and ground support equipment.
  • Lead early-phase planning by partnering with Engineering on Bill of Material development, manufacturability considerations, make-or-buy analysis, and phase-appropriate sourcing strategies.
  • Drive sourcing decisions and supplier selection based on technical capability, cost competitiveness, schedule performance, and alignment with small-business program needs.
  • Manage long-lead identification and procurement, including space-rated electronics, composites, machined structures, and propulsion components.
  • Partner with Finance and Program Management to manage material budgets, cost targets, Estimate at Completion forecasting, and program financial health.
  • Create and maintain supply chain risk registers, recovery plans, and mitigation actions for space-qualified hardware and single-source suppliers.
  • Support rapid prototype builds through fast-turn procurement, close supplier coordination, and agile material planning.
  • Build and strengthen supplier relationships, including relationships with small and emerging suppliers, to ensure capability growth, reliability, and long-term alignment with business needs.
  • Drive continuous improvement in supply chain processes, material flow, and supplier performance as the organization scales.
  • Provide executive-level updates on supply chain risks, program status, and mitigation strategies supported by data-driven insights.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with spacecraft development, launch vehicle hardware, satellite manufacturing, or high-reliability hardware programs.
  • Familiarity with small-business operations, including resource-limited environments, cross-functional roles, and process development.
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified in Production and Inventory Management, Certified Supply Chain Professional, or Project Management Professional.
  • A graduate degree in supply chain or a technical discipline.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning or Material Requirements Planning systems common in smaller aerospace companies, including comfort implementing or improving related processes.
  • Strong understanding of the supplier base for space-grade electronics, precision machining, composites, propulsion components, or flight-critical systems.

BlackSky to provide satellites for world's largest AI space infrastructure in $1B initiative

BlackSky Technology has been named the exclusive provider of very high-resolution electro-optical satellites for a new international space initiative. The announcement was made at the International Space Summit in Paris alongside French President Emmanuel Macron. The project involves a 50-satellite constellation developed under a $1 billion investment led by a consortium including Marlan Space, Loft Orbital, Mistral AI, and other space leaders in the UAE and France. The shares were sold at $34.10 each, above the day's opening price of $31.38 and closing price of $31.79. The transaction reduced O'Toole's direct holdings by 1.3%, leaving him with substantial ownership valued at $36.2 million based on the closing price. The sale represents one of O'Toole's larger transactions but fits within his established selling pattern, marking his fourth sale since March 2025. BlackSky Technology provides geospatial intelligence and satellite imagery services to government and commercial clients. The company reported $97.81 million in trailing twelve-month revenue and employs 297 people.
