Requirements
  • Successfully complete vendor-supplied training courses related to any Diesel Multiple Unit vehicle system or subsystem.
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Have a diesel and/or locomotive mechanical background, preferably.
  • Have an associate degree in electrical/electronic or mechanical technology, or related experience.
  • Have two to five years of verifiable mechanical and/or electrical work experience.
  • Have knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Understand chain-of-custody concepts for parts issuance and distribution.
  • Have prior rail maintenance experience, highly desirable.
  • Be able to conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Be able to use various software programs as required.
  • Work in close proximity to moving vehicles.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and required endorsements.
  • Pass a pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • Pass a pre-employment Department of Transportation physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen.
  • Pass and maintain any required safety certification and testing annually.
  • Lift up to 75 pounds to a height of 56 inches; carry up to 75 pounds for 100 feet; and push or pull up to 50 pounds for 50 feet.
  • Climb ladders and equipment, work in confined spaces, and regularly kneel, bend, squat, sit, stand, and walk on uneven surfaces.
  • Work safely in temperature extremes and moderately loud environments, follow verbal commands, and distinguish required auditory signals.
  • Pass color and vision examinations as required by the position.
Responsibilities
  • Complete preventive and corrective maintenance tasks on Stadler GTW 2/6 Diesel Multiple Unit passenger rail vehicle mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Assist with the Diesel Multiple Unit testing and acceptance program.
  • Assist vendors in repairing the Diesel Multiple Unit during the warranty period.
  • Assist in setting up the Diesel Multiple Unit maintenance shop.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and test Diesel Multiple Unit systems and equipment.
  • Perform mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic diagnosis.
  • Document warranty data according to client policies and procedures.
  • Comply with all safety, operating, and maintenance procedures.
  • Work with a team to complete repairs in a timely manner.
  • Provide passenger service support to minimize service delays.
  • Perform re-railing operations as required.
  • Work outdoors in inclement weather as needed.
  • Maintain small tool equipment.
  • Utilize the client-supplied Maintenance Management Information System as required.
  • Work any time of day or night as assigned.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
