Position Summary

As the Director of Internal Communications at Light & Wonder, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the internal communication strategy to foster alignment across all levels of the organization and contribute to a cohesive and engaged workforce. You will be responsible for developing and implementing communication plans that align with the company’s vision, objectives, and culture, helping to ensure employees are informed, motivated, and connected. You will oversee communication content creation, collaborate with the broader Communications team and department leadership, and establish effective feedback mechanisms. Additionally, the role involves monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of communication efforts and making necessary improvements to communications strategies and practices as needed to best support the organization and staff.

Key Focus Areas & Responsibilities:

• Strategic Communication Planning: Develop and execute comprehensive internal Communications strategies that support the Company’s vision, mission, and objectives.

• Content Creation: Oversee the creation of engaging and informative content for various internal channels, including newsletters, intranet, emails, and presentations.

• Leadership Communication: Collaborate with senior leadership to craft and deliver key messages, ensuring transparency and alignment across the organization.

• Feedback Mechanisms: Establish and maintain channels for employee feedback, ensuring their voices are heard and addressed.

• Metrics and Reporting: Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of internal communication efforts, providing regular reports and recommendations for improvement.

• Collaboration: Work closely with communication team leadership as well as cross-functionally with departments such as Finance, People Capability, and Legal to ensure cohesive and aligned communication efforts. To maximize cross-team collaboration and support in-the-moment creative and innovative connections with colleagues, the role is expected to work in the L&W office 3-4 days out of the week.

Qualifications

Education & Experience Required:

• A Bachelor’s degree

• 12-15 years communications (with a large portion of that in internal comms) experience in a corporate or an agency environment.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• The ability to think strategically and provide communications counsel to senior leadership, and lead the development of communication strategies and plans to drive results

• Expert-level storytelling skills and grammatical writing skills, with ability to quickly develop clear, concise messages

• Excellent and ruthless editing skills. A willingness to be hands-on with writing and editing to get the job done effectively

• A willingness to challenge the status quo, think creatively and take intelligent risks in raising the overall level of Internal Communications

• Advanced understanding of business processes and vernacular

• Demonstrated ability to create and execute internal events like quarterly Town Halls, frequent leadership meetings, and industry events

• Demonstrated ability to learn about and grasp specialized product offerings and to translate often complex technologies into clear, plain language

• Demonstrated experience with social media and an advanced understanding of how best to leverage channels such as Yammer to promote employee engagement

• Extraordinary ability to work well with people at all levels, especially senior leaders

• Understand nuances, comfortable working in gray areas, all with the highest personal integrity

• Effectively handles pressures and demands from multiple clients and competing priorities

• Effectively coaches and develops 2-4 direct reports, including team members globally

• Exceptional skills in PowerPoint and other presentation software

Physical Requirements: This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
