Requirements
  • 3-5 years of professional work experience with the Indiana Department of Transportation, the transportation industry, or the utility industry.
  • Hold an Indiana Department of Transportation Certified Utility Coordinator certification or be able to become certified.
  • Working knowledge of Indiana Department of Transportation Design Manual standards, specifications, and procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam Revu.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and communicate information to multiple layers of stakeholders on road and bridge projects.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Indiana Department of Transportation and municipal clients, project managers, design engineers, and utility stakeholders on transportation improvement projects.
  • Evaluate bridge and roadway project plans for accurate utility information and evaluate conflicts.
  • Track utility responses and due dates to keep projects on schedule.
  • Prepare and update utility relocation drawings and project Gantt charts.
  • Track utility relocations as needed on projects.
  • Maintain relationships with utility partners from the beginning of the project until project completion.
  • Prepare risk assessments and conflict analyses for projects.
  • Facilitate meetings between clients and utility partners.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a similar degree.
  • Professional Engineer license.
  • Understanding of utility locating equipment and 811 processes.
  • Working knowledge of Subsurface Utility Engineering and American Society of Civil Engineers 38 standards.
  • Working knowledge of the Indiana Department of Transportation Utility Management System.
  • Understanding of Indiana Department of Transportation reimbursable agreement processes.
