Requirements
  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer with an Ohio license or ability to obtain one through reciprocity within six months of employment
  • Nine or more years of professional bridge engineering experience, including management of projects
  • Existing working relationship with Ohio Department of Transportation and local municipal authorities
  • Experience in bridge design on Ohio Department of Transportation projects and understanding of their practices, procedures, and standards
  • Understanding of standard engineering practices, techniques, and applicable codes, including American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials and American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association codes
  • Proficiency in AASHTOWare and Bridge Rating (BrR) software
  • Proficiency in LEAP Concrete/Bridge, Concrete Strength Interface (CSI) Bridge, and MIDAS Civil preferred
  • Working knowledge of developing plans in the AutoDesk platform
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including technical report writing
  • Structural problem analysis skills
  • Active professional involvement in local engineering societies
Responsibilities
  • Manage bridge projects predominately in Ohio, with other locations as needed
  • Prepare and perform complex structural analysis, and design calculations, drawings and details for engaging bridge projects
  • Lead bridge and structural tasks, including development and reporting of production work plans and calculations as part of a project team
  • Assist with the management of design, review process and permitting through outside agencies
  • Assist with business development, client presentations, and proposal preparations for bridge projects in the Ohio region
  • Coordinate with clients on submittals, meetings and comments required for successful project delivery and client satisfaction
  • Attend virtual and in-person client meetings
  • Coordinate with and lead technical staff to meet project deadlines with sub-consultants
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain engineering budgets on major bridge projects
  • Assist in preparing project scope and schedules on Ohio Department of Transportation pursuits
  • Mentor, train and review work performed by junior engineering staff
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with MicroStation, including Open Roads and Open Bridge Designer preferred
