Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent and military and/or applicable training courses are required.
  • Experience as a CH-47F cargo helicopter pilot, including qualification with night vision goggles.
  • Completion of the United States Army CH-47F Instructor Pilot Training Course.
  • A minimum of 1,000 pilot-in-command hours in the category is required.
  • Instrument instructors must possess at least 150 combined hours of hood, weather, and simulator time.
  • Classroom instruction and training development experience are required.
  • Must meet all Army initial aircraft qualifications required in accordance with AR 95-20.
  • Must meet service evaluation requirements before GFR approval on DD Form 2628 when flight training and/or transport requirements are required.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a secret clearance.
  • A current Federal Aviation Administration Class II Medical Certificate is required before beginning training.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 30–50%.
Responsibilities
  • Provide academic instruction as an aircraft instructor pilot on company aircraft and United States military aircraft.
  • Provide ground procedure training, aircraft systems training, operating procedures, emergency procedures, malfunction analysis, navigation, transponder, and radio operation training specific to individual aircraft requirements.
  • Determine and report on student proficiency.
  • Provide retraining, special instruction, and counseling as necessary.
  • Develop and improve training methods and techniques to increase efficiency.
