Requirements
  • A High School Diploma with at least 2 years of experience in an electronics field.
  • Ability to travel 100% of the time, including domestic and air travel; air travel may be necessary for installations or service delivery projects outside the assigned geography.
  • Basic knowledge of personal computer technology, network infrastructure, flat-panel televisions and monitors, cash registers and point-of-sale equipment, scanners, handheld devices, kiosks, printers, and related retail and small-to-medium-business product technologies.
  • Mechanical aptitude and competency in electricity and electronics, including the ability to use test equipment, basic hand tools, electronic testing equipment, and electric meters properly.
  • Ability to follow written or spoken directions and provide information clearly and concisely.
  • Customer service skills and the ability to multitask, prioritize assignments, and work independently.
  • Written and oral communication skills, including tact and diplomacy when interacting with customers.
  • Ability to recognize and understand the functional and operational use of IT signal and power cables and low-voltage wiring systems, and to diagnose and repair them.
  • Ability to work long hours in a physically demanding environment as project needs dictate.
  • Ability to work varying shifts, including overtime and weekends, as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance and perform frequent standing, walking, stooping, bending, squatting, and reaching.
  • Ability to use ladders or lifts to reach devices mounted on roofs, ceilings, or walls.
  • Ability to drive to multiple customer locations throughout the day and travel regularly by air when required.
Responsibilities
  • Operate in the assigned territory and perform basic repairs and services on products using standard maintenance packages, diagnostics, reference documentation, system tools, and service aids to identify routine problems.
  • Perform basic diagnostics and repairs, seeking occasional assistance from more experienced service representatives for difficult product repair activities.
  • Perform installations, relocations, discontinuances, product-level engineering and configuration changes, upgrades, and modifications to retail point-of-sale equipment at customer locations.
  • Communicate with customers, management, peers, and team members about work status, potential problems, customer or store-management satisfaction, and requests for advice or assistance.
  • Build positive relationships with product end users and customer project or store management.
  • Manage service events effectively and complete them with high quality and within required timeframes to meet customer commitments and minimize operational disruptions.
  • With assistance, plan, prioritize, and schedule work to meet or exceed customer service-level objectives.
  • Arrange travel plans using approved business tools and respond to schedule changes with minimal notice.
  • Document installation activities in accordance with company standards and practices using automated systems and established reports, including air-travel, call, mileage, timecard, and expense reports.
  • Maintain and manage trunk stock to support customers.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
