Responsibilities
  • Learn CBC barge services and execute logistics plans under the direction of the Director of Logistics Operations and the Manager of Field Operations
  • Understand inland marine logistics
  • Coordinate with dock spotting orders
  • Coordinate/communicate tankering services according to requirements
  • Facilitate barge cleaning according to requirements
  • Develop working relationships with CBC boats and field employees, towing and tankerman service vendors, docks and fleets
  • Learn CBC systems to ensure flawless communications with customers, vendors, and fellow CBC employees
  • Answer incoming telephone calls and ensure they are forwarded or received by the appropriate party
  • Enter TowWorks events timely and accurately relating to movement of boats/barges
  • Maintain an accurate log of all incoming calls
  • Provide a documented turnover report from night operations to the New Orleans Dispatcher
  • Assist with incident management and all required communications
  • Ensure timely and accurate updating of TowWorks system
  • Work under the Director of Logistics Operations to achieve internal standards of professionalism, efficiency and flexibility
  • Work as a team to continually improve the overall abilities of the Transportation Services department

Redwood Holdings Acquires Canal Barge Company

Redwood Holdings, a family-owned company, will acquire Canal Barge Company, marking its second investment in the U.S. Jones Act market after acquiring Marquette Transportation in May 2024. The acquisition will be through a new holding company that will also own Marquette. Merritt Lane will be CEO of the holding company, with David Lane and John Eckstein in leadership roles. The partnership aims to expand services and leverage shared values and expertise in marine transportation.
