Requirements
  • At least 1 year of clerical experience.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Knowledge of medical procedures, routines, regulations, and medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of ICD-9, CPT-4, and health insurance benefits and requirements.
  • Experience working in a busy healthcare environment.
  • Experience with EPIC.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Superior customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently, solve problems, and pay attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and perform various registration duties efficiently.
  • Must be flexible to work varied hours from 8:00 AM to 8:30 PM, Monday through Friday, and alternate Saturdays.
  • Must be willing to work on-site and float to other NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Medical Group locations if needed.
Responsibilities
  • Register patients for a variety of procedures and appointments.
  • Obtain patient demographic details and insurance information.
  • Ensure proper scheduling.
  • Record patient history.
  • Obtain pre-certification and authorization for patients.
  • Provide a calm and reassuring presence to patients during their hospital experience.
