Requirements
  • Active Top Secret clearance, or Secret clearance with eligibility for a Top Secret upgrade.
  • Valid U.S. passport and ability to travel outside the continental United States.
  • At least one of the following: lead-level fiber installation experience, prior Department of State fiber infrastructure experience, or BICSI certification at the Installer level or higher.
  • At least 5 years of fiber installation, splicing, and testing experience.
  • Strong expertise in fiber optic systems, structured cabling, and telecommunications grounding.
  • Ability to lead teams in demanding, mission-critical environments.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and execute installation, termination, splicing, and testing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic systems.
  • Supervise and guide field technicians to ensure quality, safety, and adherence to project standards.
  • Perform fusion splicing using Sumitomo equipment with splice-loss targets below 0.3 dB.
  • Conduct OTDR, OLTS, and VFL testing for system certification and troubleshooting.
  • Handle, inspect, and clean fiber connectors, including LC, SC, ST, and MPO.
  • Identify and work with OM2, OM3, and OS2 fiber types and OFNP and OFNR cable ratings.
  • Oversee installation of pathways, conduits, fiber trays, racks, cabinets, patch panels, and work area outlets.
  • Ensure compliance with TIA/EIA 568, TIA/EIA 455, and BICSI standards.
  • Manage cable routing while maintaining bend radius, separation from electromagnetic interference and power, and proper support.
  • Implement telecommunications grounding and bonding systems, including TGB, TMGB, and RGB.
  • Enforce safety protocols, including confined-space entry procedures.
  • Operate effectively in high-security U.S. Government environments with minimal supervision.
  • Serve as the primary on-site technical lead and point of contact for fiber-related activities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Registered Communications Distribution Designer certification.
  • Experience supporting U.S. Government or other high-security infrastructure projects.
  • Prior outside-the-continental-United-States deployment experience.
